The elders of the village call a meeting about ...

But the full moon is still a week away and the village elders call a meeting to discuss how to protect themselves against this Shadow Beast. They light the fires on the roof of the Kiva and descend into the sacred depths. Harold, the Knight Protector, speaks for the Grand Duke Assam while he is away fighting in the battles.

He stands before the council, dressed in the furs of the leader. Staff in hand, he speaks loud and strong for all to hear. "For too long we have lived in ignorance of this Shadow Beast, allowing it to claim territory around us on all sides. Now that we are surrounded, we must call upon our Gods to intervene on our behalf, to smite this devilish creature where it stands. Only upon the full moon will it be seen and the eyes of the Gods are best to discern what is evil and what is of the moon."

Jalal raises his own staff, a golden orb on the end shining in the firelight. "And I say we must defend ourselves. The Gods are the Gods but they look down upon us without interfering. We cannot rely upon their mighty presence in the night when our loved ones face the wrath of the shadows. We should send out the men to defend the village against what might come."

The meeting erupts into chaos. The elders taking sides.
