Dr. Jeffery Nichols walked the length of the zoo to discuss with his wife Joanne how they wished to spend the evening. Being in charge of a zoo with the shapeshifting medallion offered ample opportunities for unique fun experiences. He felt that he now had a greater understanding of the animals through the use of the medallion. With the wolves he found a distinct hierarchy interesting to find his place in. He started out with his tail up running around dominant. The alpha wolf soon put him in his place as a beta of their pack. Jeff resisted the temptation to shift into a larger wolf to extract his revenge. His wife enjoyed testing physical abilities of the animals. Once she became a spider happily climbing about her enclosure spinning a web. She explained the process of spraying digestive fluids onto her prey before devouring. The savoring look in her eyes as she described it unsettled him.
They had a nondisclosure agreement signed by all of their employees that they trusted about the medallion. Keeping it in a safe till someone asked to use it. Some of them used it for fun while others helped with the breeding programs and animal care. Jeff suspected that their children knew the combination but had yet to prove it. Jason sported a tattoo that he thought his son used the medallion to obtain. Abigail seemed to have a curl to her hair that it lacked before. Jeff knew there were ways outside of the medallion but his suspicion perked. But ultimately they were good kids. He wished they would ask so that he could monitor.
Accidents with the medallion happened. Their children suspected as much with Abby’s blonde hair with her parents being brunette. The explanation combined with a demonstration of the medallion set her mind at ease that she was in fact their daughter. Though grossed out by the image of her role playing parents together. They decided together to leave out the part where Jeff was in fact her mother and Joanne her father. Feeling that it might be to much for her yet.
Joanne came up to him asking about their evening plans. With Abby and Jason staying over at friends houses they decided to play with the medallion. Jeff said, “I have no set plan in mind. We could become a couple of birds and soar over the zoo and make up our minds.” But as the couple opened the safe only to find it empty. With no note they agreed that one of their kids was the most likely suspects. Pulling out their phones they each placed phone calls to their children.
Joanne spoke with Abby briefly who denied any involvement. She took her word for it at the moment returning to Jeff to see how his investigation fared. Jeff hung up his phone and looking at her said, “Jason isn’t answering. Could you check your phone tracker app and we’ll see how the prodigal child is doing.”
Joanne nodded, “I don’t know how he thinks we won’t catch him. Well, now we know how we will be spending the evening.” They both shook their heads as they made their way to their car facing disappointing evening ahead of them. The drive served as an opportunity to discuss possible punishments for their wayward son. “I say that mucking out the animal enclosures for a month.”
Jeff responded, “Why not add that he has to be a plecco and suck clean a couple of the fish tanks?” Jeff enjoyed coming up with creative punishments. Pondering a tour for his son in petting zoo as an attraction.
Joanne provided the voice of reason, “First let’s see if he is guilty and go from there. Second let’s keep our emotions in check. Kids make impulsive decisions sometimes. The most important thing is that he is okay.” Jeff nodded as they pulled up to the location the app said.
