This choice: Do your tasks, be safe.  •  Go Back...
Chapter #38

Self-Isolation

    by: Doom Author IconMail Icon
Well, you return to your shelter, eager to put safety first. To not think about the gorgeous giantess stomping around on the surface. You just need to ignore the tremors that shudder through every surface at intervals. Just sigh, and plough on through your interior tasks, putting Tara's curves out of your mind...

Damnit.

You pause to review what you've typed up so far in your daily report, and there's little of substance there. You've gushed so much about how amazing your new, giant neighbour is, and mentioned very little of your achivements in the realm of tiny survival.

She's warped everything around her, distracting you, her immense gravity taking all attention.

It's not her fault. You can't blame her. She's too perfect to be doing this intentionally...

Gah! This is just why you planned to do this away from humans! Dragging your palms over your face, you desperately try to think of a way around this. If she keeps you helpless for six hours a day, forcing your exterior activities to during the hours of darkness, this just got a whole lot more difficult.

You could play by her rules. Stay here, stress your way through a full write-up, and then get on with your true work later. Boring, inconvenient, but pleasing to she who must be obeyed.

Maybe it's time to move on. You could restore your own size, pick up your camp, and head off somewhere else to start anew. You had a good run, but you can't work under these conditions!

Why not let Tara see things from your perspective? Rather than grow yourself, you could shrink her, let her see how things are, and persuade her to work around you, rather than the other way around. Forceful empathy.

Or... maybe you could drive her off with more subtlety? One thing you've been experimenting with - but have yet to test - is a signal that your equipment can emit, a pulse that would affect the senses of wildlife for a substantial area. It should, in theory, send them a little crazy, get them all riled up. Being so small, you obviously haven't made use of it for safety reasons. Now, though? Why not throw caution to the wind, see if a revolt of fauna might drive Tara to leave the area?

No, no, don't think of her! This could be a chance to attempt an experiment you've been putting off. Being cooped up underground, you have no excuse now. You could open one of the lower hatches and see about hooking yourself an earthworm, with all the fun that entails...
