At the Littlest Pet Shop, things were at their usual. Pepper was performing her newest routine to Sunil, Zoe, and Minka. Vinnie was practicing his dance moves to Penny Ling's ribbon dancing music because he couldn't help himself when music came on. And Russell was reading a massive novel on his favorite bean bag chair.
Blythe was at school, so Mrs. Twombly was watching the pets as usual when Blythe was away.
It was nearing noon, the pets' lunchtime. So she went to get some food for them. He approached the huge kibble bag they always used to feed the pets. But this time it was empty!
"Well, that just won't do! This is the only bad we've used to feed them for two and a half seasons-I mean years! I guess we'll just see if we have any other bags lying around in stock."
She didn't want to take anything that was for the customers because then she'd lose money. There had to be another bag around there somewhere!
When she was just about to give up, the last place she checked was where she found one. In the storage cost they hadn't used in years, there was a small bag that had collected dust.
She checked for an expiration date, but couldn't find one.
"Well, I guess this will tide them over until I go out and buy some more!" She reassured herself.
There was only enough in the bag for one pet. She decided she'd give it to Penny Ling because naturally, as the largest, she'd need more food.
She cut it open and poured the contents into Penny Ling's bowl. Then, she left for the provider to buy more pet food.
But what she didn't see behind the dust on the bag, was that this was extremely fattening kibble.
