As you held the book up, you heard a door open. It was Mel and she looked slightly pale for some reason. She was wearing a pink spaghetti strapped top, shorts, and sandals. Combined with the fact she was blond, and busty for her age meant that she attracted a lot of attention. Her presence had an effect on your friends too; Megan greeted her best friend warmly, but Harry started to become nervous, which caused you to grin wickedly.
He's deluding himself when he says he doesn't want to date her. Look at him. he's turned into a bumbling idiot. Melanie is still the same girl she was last year you mused, as you looked at your twin. Mel had barely changed over her year's absence; she still general appearance, and same slightly ditzy demeanor she always had. The only difference was that she seemed to be a bit smarter, less impulsive.
"I like what you said to John last week. Happy Birthday. I think you'd make a cute girl" Megan giggled. You frowned since you didn't share her sentiments. Still, you had to admit you thought it was a bemusing way for her to deflect your questions.
"Mel, you may as well tell me. I'm sure whatever it is is far better than whatever I can think of" you said.
"Like what?" Mel said, though you could see that her attention wasn't really on you. Instead she was focused on the book in your hands.
Frowning, you said, "You know. Forget it." Annoyed that you're being left out, you was about to walk off with the book, but Mel had other ideas. She looked at you crossly and said, "You really want to know why? Fine"
