The general terms for them are thaumaturge, spellcaster, or miracle-worker.
For those of the cloth, there are many gods to whom allegiance might be pledged. Through devoted worship, you may become a paragon, a physical embodiment of your god's ideal upon the mortal plane, and by giving everything in service be raised up as an angel or even herald upon death. The path of an acolyte is fraught with peril - for the agents of other gods also fight against you in the eternal battle over the souls of mortal men. May your faith be your shield.
Scorning the gods as mere ephemeral entities, druids and shaman worship the spirits of the world itself. Allies to beasts, elementals and ancestral spirits, these protectors of the wild strive to shield their lands from all who would threaten them and prove the might of the wilds to those who lock themselves behind city walls. Rewarded for their devotion with incredible powers, druids gain unparalleled shape-shifting abilities, the companionship of mighty beasts and the power to call upon elemental might.
The Royal Colleges of Magic are institutions of arcane knowledge tasked with the training and deployment of all gifted humans. It pledges allegiance to the ruler of Tryzantium and its wizards travel across the world, aiding the kingdom's armies in battle and dealing with unnatural threats. Most wizards show a strong aptitude to a particular school of magic, and are assigned to one of the five main colleges accordingly. Sorcerers are an exception, being natural-born generalists
There are scholars of the arcane who walk unseen beneath the gaze of the Orders of magic, or who have attained power sufficient to openly challenge what they regard as an overly restrictive institution. Hedge wizards, unlicensed alchemists, diabolists, warlocks and witches abound.
All races have their unique ways of harnessing magic, such as the fleshcrafters of the demonic Xenobites, or the monks and assassins of the Hashaan with their mastery over life force, or the ever-present bards capable of playing the mind as easily as they play their instruments. Their arts are often more subtle, and cannot be easily classified as arcane or holy.
