I've thought of using this route to tackle a selection of possibilities of size-changing in Equestria.
Elements of Growth: An alternate universe where the use of the elements of harmony causes the bearers to grow to gigantic proportions, ergo Celestia will be gigantic to Luna but Luna will be gigantic to nearly everypony else and the Mane Six will have to come to terms of living as giants.
Incredible Shrinking Ponies: A magical accident causes some ponies to continually shrink.
The Amazing Colossal Mare: An ordinary mare gets turned into a giant.
My Very Little Ponies: Celestia and Luna must face problems of crime, destitution, famine, etc. and so promptly develop secondary societies populated by both perpetrators and victims but are given positions that reflect the balance of suffering while also facing the Princesses cutting loose with harmless but initially scary play-times.
