Hard consequences

"She said she could be here in about 10 minutes. She happens to work in a...semi-legal
factory nearby, where her immigration status isn't looked at...that much, if you will. She'll
fill you in on the details very shortly, since you're gonna have to take over this job when
you guys swap."

The very last part of this exchange made Lisa pause even so slightly. While she didn't
reconsider her decision at that point, the perspective of a good deed motivating her
enough so that she wouldn't, she started to realize what actually swapping with Maria
would imply. She would actually become someone else .

She had another look at the photo she was given. Sure, Maria wasn't downright ugly or
anything, but she was badly overweight, more than ten years older AND an illegal to boot.
Her head was starting to spin just thinking about the actual consequences of her choice when
Maria came into the room...
