The illustration on the lid looks like trivial pursuits but the writing isn't in English. It looks oriental, and you guess Japanese. Bugger. That puts paid to reading the questions, if they're all in a foreign language. Then you notice drawings around the sides of the box that appear to represent people engaging in various sexual acts. Well, that's not what you had expected. It may still be worth investigating this game! You hadn't realized there was a sex related version. Mind you, it would still be fairly dependent on having pictures on the cards - your Japanese is non-existent.
You open the box, and remove all of the contents. You lay out the board on your bedroom floor. There is a card dispenser, but it seems to be locked or jammed shut. There is part of an instruction leaflet which has been torn. This seems to be in Japanese, although as you turn it over there is a small section written in English.
You read that the game is called Sexual Pursuits, and you have the deluxe change edition. The object of the game seems similar to Trivial Pursuit, but instead of answering questions you must complete assigned tasks. Once a player has completed the required action for every color they make their way toward the central hub for the conclusion of the game, with one final action to be completed. The categories are: Blue - Nice, Green - Naughty, Purple - Objects, Yellow - Clothes, Orange - The human body, and Red - Sharing.
Finally (you continue reading), most cards (indicated by red borders) are action cards - you must complete the action as defined but change cards (indicated by gold borders) will be randomly dispensed - whatever change is stated or chosen must be completed.
Well, that all seems a bit tame really. You're not sure what all the categories mean, but guess you could find out by checking over the cards. Besides nobody is actually going to check that you do everything precisely, so there will be plenty of scope to skip a category if it's really too naff. You're also not entirely sure what the change cards are for - presumably (given the title of the game) you swap an object or perhaps items of clothing with the other player, which could make the whole thing a tad more interesting, depending of course on who you play the game with!.
So your first problem is finding someone to play with.
Clearly this would need to be a girl, and preferably someone you fancy, so that you can actually enjoy the game, rather than purely working through the game imagining what you could be doing. Your first thoughts turn to Janie in your class at school - you've had the hots for her for a while. Or (reality check time) you could try playing with your little sister Bryony. She's only 10, so you hope she would't understand the majority of sexual references anyway. You definitely rule out your mom - not a good idea in view of your new understanding of the theme of the game.
You hear a noise at your bedroom door. It opens and in walks...
