This choice: You want to change something about a family member. Click the person link. • Go Back...Chapter #3Sometime you CAN choose your family. by: Jim Valkros You click on the link to change a specific person. It's the obvious choice. Your family is just one major disappointment after another.
Your husband is horrible. Back when you first met him, Jack Williams was your dream boy. Captain of the football team, the most popular boy in school and top of his class, Jack seemed like the perfect boyfriend back when you were in high school. You got married right out of high school, and you thought you were happy. But as the years went on, you came to see the man behind that charming facade. Jack is a horrible man, ready to get angry at the drop of a hat. Though he's never hit you, it has come very close so many times. He's insufferable to be around, treating you as his property, and the problem is that you can't do anything to stop it. He convinced you back when you were just a young idiot that you didn't need to go to college because he would always be able to supply for you. He said you should just stay home and take care of the children you were going to have... and you swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. Now you are stuck with him, and he knows hit. He constantly holds it over your head that at any time he can take away your money, leaving you a prisoner of your own (admittedly nice) house.
Your first daughter, 31 year old Beth, is a beast. She stands about 6' 9", and isn't afraid to throw her weight around. She's also extremely muscular, built like the proverbial Mack truck. Back when she was little, she was a kind girl, but after she got into highschool and a friend got her into weight lifting she seemed to enjoy becoming an alpha bitch. You suspect her of taking steroids, though haven't been able to prove it.
Your son, 26 year old Michael, is the biggest disappointment. He's a genius, probably able to do anything he wanted and make millions doing it. He's also a slacker. He could do anything, but he's so lazy he's taken a minimum wage job as a night guard in a broken down parking garage. As a child he was so bright, your expected him to become an astronaut or a doctor, but somewhere along the line, he just stopped caring. The last time you talked to him on the phone, he brushed your concerns off with a "whatever, mom." before hanging up.
Your youngest, 17 year old Amy, is a brat. She was a beautiful child, born much later in your life, and you spoiled her a little when she was young. But as she started to grow up she came to expect to be spoiled... and of course, your husband sees nothing wrong with that. After all, nothing's too good for his little princess. She constantly badmouths you, belittling every thing you do and say. She also is a manipulative little bitch, good at playing one side against the other to get what she wants... usually at your expense.
As you think about who to change, you look down. Why not yourself? Back when you were in high school, you were very attractive. You could have had your pick of any one of the boys. Now you're a dumpy, chubby little middle aged lady. You were on the track team, one of the best in the district. Now you probably can't even run a hundred yards without getting out of breath. Your once striking black hair has started to become faded and grey. Yes, you could definitely use some changing yourself.
So when the text box comes up with Who would you like to change? You enter: indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
