This choice: Teresa, a 50 year old stay at home mother • Go Back...Chapter #2Teresa, a 50 year old stay at home mother by: Jim Valkros You look over the email once again, re-reading it to make sure it says what you think it says. You don't believe it's real... how could you? This is obviously some joke.
And yet... you wish it was real. Almost of its own volition, your mouse clicks on your address bar and you find yourself typing in the address in the email. You don't trust it not to be a scam, but it couldn't hurt to check out the web site, could it?
When your browser finishes loading the page, you find yourself staring at a rather normal looking web page. Then your eyes see a button in the corner of the page: Got our Email? Don't know if it's real? Click here.
You click the button, and the second you do, the doorbell rings. You get up out of your chair and walk to the front door, opening it to find a handsome man, dressed in a business suit and tie, standing on your doorstep.
"Ms. Teresa Williams?" He asks, his voice smooth as honey.
You nod.
"I'm here from Reality-Shift-dot-Net. It seems you got our email and were unsure if it was real or not, so you pressed the test button on our website." He reaches into his suit-coat and removes an envelope. "I'm here to give you one thousand dollars."
He hands you the envelope and then disappears. Not runs off. Not hops in a car and zooms away. No, right in front of your eyes he just simply ceases to exist.
You look down at the envelope in your hand. You can't believe it. You look inside and find ten crisp hundred dollar bills. This can't be happening. And yet deep inside of you, a little voice tells you that it is.
It's no secret that you're not exactly satisfied with your life. Sure, it seemed to have started out well. You married your highschool sweetheart right after graduation, had three beautiful babies, and were seeming to live the American Dream. But deep down, your life is as far from perfect as you can get. Your husband, once the most desirable boy in highschool, has turned into an insufferable jerk. Yet as much as you want to, you can't leave him because you rely on his income to pay the bills. You don't have any qualifications for getting a job on your own, because you decided to stay home and have his kids instead of going to college. Your children, once the pride of your life, now seem to take pleasure in disappointing you at every opportunity. Your once beautiful body has melted down into the chubby form of the average middle American housewife. Your days, that at one time you hoped would be filled with adventure and excitement, now consist of cleaning house, washing dishes, and hours upon hours of surfing the internet, hoping to find something that can take your mind off of how pathetic your life has become.
So if this website's offer is true... could this really be your chance to change your fate? You rush back to the computer, finding it still on the website. Quickly re-reading the email you got to remember your user name and password, your log in ready to start.
What you see overwhelms you. Option upon option, line upon line of things you can change. You just don't know where to start. Then, a little pop-up appears. New to our site? Overwhelmed by all the options? For simple mode, click here
You click there, and the page seems to rearrange itself for you. Now, it's much easier to understand.
