You decide that there is no reason to attempt to calm Sarah down now. She is clearly agitated and does not want to talk to you. Her annoyance with you is present throughout the week as she goes out of her way to avoid you at school.
When Saturday arrives, you call Sarah up in order to make amends. Unfortunately, your plan has backfired. While Sarah does accept your apology, she informs you that she won't be able to go with you to Prom. Tommy apparently chased Sarah down at school on Monday and begged her to go to Prom with him.
You are glad that you and Sarah are best friends again, but disappointed that you are going to be the only girl at the dance without a date. You sulkily make your way back to your room and flop down onto your bed.
Forty-five minutes later, you stop crying and head to the bathroom. After blowing your nose, you look yourself over in the mirror. It is still early afternoon and you have plenty of time to decide whether or not you want to go to Prom.
