The moment Jenny and I entered the garden we both froze. Something did not feel right. There was no one around, but I could not shake the feeling that I was being watched. This is not a sense you are born with, you develop it over time while in situations where you are being watched and, oftentimes, attacked. I turned to Jenny who had the same trapped look on her face.
Fortunately, I did not need to verbally yell for Asura when I needed him. A mental shout out was all that was required Asura was in my hand in the next breath. Jenny had summoned a harmless flame to her left hand as a universal sign of magical power. It was a magic wielder's warning to anyone to think twice before attacking. She and I both jumped as an oddly pleasant male voice rang out from near the center of the garden.
"Your defensive posture suggests you see me as a potential threat." Calmly, the voice stated. "However, I come bearing gifts to all who merely have the courage to ask for them."
"There is a thin line between courage and foolishness." Serious, Jenny retorted. "Show yourself."
"Is that your wish?" Calmly, the voice demanded.
I now had an idea why the other world visitors stated that this wishing orb was psychotic. It was taking every demand, everything said for that matter as a potential wish. Jenny opened her mouth to respond but I held up my hand, silencing her. I then quietly ushered her and myself out of the garden and closed the door.
"It is in the garden." Whispering, I radioed.
"Was anything said to it?" Firmly, the voice of Jessica demanded.
I relayed what little was said then sighed as Jessica responded. "You got off lucky." Relief in her voice, she said. "That corrupted orb only grants something when it is confirmed what the person says is what he or she wants done."
"Do not allow anyone into the garden until we can arrive." Serious, the male voice of Tex ordered. "It only takes one demand to cause chaos for everyone."
"Whatever you do, don't speak to it!" Urgently, Jessica pleaded. "It will say anything to get anyone to demand something of it!"
I sighed and turned to Jenny who gave me an apologetic look. I shrugged it off and motioned her to guard the other entrance to the garden while we wait for the two other world visitors and the prefects to get rid of the device.
