Jessica and Tex made short work of the corrupted wishing orb and it was sealed inside a metal box which was then sealed into another and another. When all was said and done, it was a five by five foot crate that was carried through a rift portal by four heavily armed men in police uniforms.
"We thank you for your cooperation in this matter." Bowing respectfully, Jessica said. "It is my hope we did not disrupt your school too badly."
"Unfortunately, things like this tend to happen on a regular basis around here." Sighing, I said. I then smiled and added, "No one was injured so I'd say it was a job well done."
Tex nodded, his face serious. "Agreed." Calmly, he said. "We shall take our leave then."
Just as the two began to walk into the rift, it closed upon itself and Jessica's cellphone rang followed by Tex's cellphone. Both answered on the first ring and listened as someone on the other line talked; neither seemed too pleased. Upon ending their calls, they both sighed.
"More trouble?" Curious, Jenny asked.
"We have been tasked with forming a bond with this side of the rift by spending a school year at your academy." Somewhat sadly, Jessica replied. "It was not a negotiable offer."
"It was a direct order, to be precise." Frowning, Tex added. "We were already here so no need to search for candidates." He sighed. "A job is a job; please escort us to administrations."
"This way, then." Kindly, I said.
As Jenny and I escorted Jessica and Tex to the administration office, Jenny whispered to Jessica, "Is your bother always this charming?"
Jessica sighed and whispered back, "Tex has been 'all business' since our mother passed away; I guess its his way to deal with the loss."
