Sir Garrett appreciated the hospitality but he knew there were many agents of evil in this swamp and no person grew old here with out being a more than a little dangerous. She was certainly hiding her full potential so there was no reason to put himself in her power. Besides, it had been a long ride out here and he needed sleep more than he needed food. He took a couple bits of jerky and a swallow of water and set about the task of going to bed.
His gear and his horse needed attention before he could go to bed so they would be ready to continue the journey in the morning. It didn’t take long before his body allowed him to go into a deep sleep. A little while later the old woman approached the camp cautiously, she called out to the paladin but when he didn’t respond a dark smile formed on her face.
The paladin carried many valuable items she could sell and he would make a good servant as soon as she could pour the potion down his throat. She moved in to the slumbering form of the large man but she had forgotten that he was well guarded. Thunder kicked out hard at the woman caving in the skull of the woman. A look of shock filled her face for only a moment as she collapsed to the ground dead for the wound. Sir Garrett woke with the noise with his unneeded blade ready to deal death to an enemy.
Sir Garrett gently caressed Thunder,” Thank you old friend. You have saved me once again.”
Thunder nodded happily in agreement before moving over to the sack with his food grabbing it with his teeth before setting in front of Sir Garrett.
The paladin laughed, “Alright you have earned a few sugar cubes.”
