Narra Ranger of Great Forest

    by: bolgerjc Author IconMail Icon
Narra the Ranger loathed castle the humans had built because it was lacked fine craftsmanship or even basic utility. It was designed to impress other with the money the human King had to waste in Narra’s opinion, but Narra would bite her tongue if she was given the opportunity to earn the land the village of Riverbend sat on from the humans who were polluting the water they ran through her village. It would be a delicious irony to destroy the village to build a forest.

“Travelers on the King’s road are disappearing and I need you to investigate why and solve the problem,” King Emeril requested. “Even my daughter Penelope has gone missing and I will add a bonus if you can secure her safe return.”

“I will do what I can,” Narra bowed before the noble.

The King’s road was built through the great forest of Nargoth. It was a place of ancient secrets and hidden danger and humans had defiled it by tearing a hole through the middle of it by making a road. Narra was half tempted to let the forest continue to collect the blood debt it was owed, but she had a stronger desire to have the ancestral land restored to her.

Narra was filled with joy as she entered the forest and took off her shoes to run through the woods in her bare feet. The elf was thrilled as the wind blew into face allowing her emerald hair to dance like falling leaves in the air. The stresses of civilization vanished with each foot step into wilderness. Duty would reclaim her as she drew near to her goal, but for now she was free as any animal in the woods.

It didn’t take long to discover the remains of an attack that had been pushed aside for the ease of swift travel. It had been looted by travelers along the road but there weren’t any signs of violence. Narra did find traces of the passage of nymphs and fairies. Nymphs were known to claim unwary travelers, but they rarely claimed an entire carriage. Fairies were always curious about new and strange things, so they could have been checking out the abandoned carriage, but they were also known to play tricks on people. Finally, she noted this wasn’t the carriage of the princess and wondered if she should focus on finding her. Which should she investigate first?

You have the following choices:

1. Nymphs

2. Fairies

3. Princess
