As the room came back into focus, you see Maggie and your boss, Shanice standing there looking dazed. You had no idea what that bright flash of light was, but it seemed to have startled Jackie. You grabbed her hand and pulled her towards you before asking “Are you alright, Jackie?”
Jackie blinked a few times while looking confused. She looked down at her wedding dress she wore before inspecting her hands. “What happened to me? Why am I white?”
Meanwhile your boss peered intensely between Jackie and herself. “Oh my god. Why am I in your boss's body!”
You scrunched up your face in frustration. “Ms. Jackson, I don't know what you're trying to pull at my wedding. But it isn't funny.”
Jackie responded. “Duncan! I don't know what you did to me, but if you don't fix it pronto, I'm going to have you fired.” She looked over towards your boss who seemed to be freaking out, then down at her own body like she was seeing it for the first time. You didn't know what got into the both of them, but they were acting weird.
You look plaintively at Shanice-in-Jackie’s-body. “This isn't funny. We're about to get married in a few minutes.”
Shanice turned Jackie’s face into a scowl. “I would never marry one of my employees. Do you know how fast I would lose my job!? I've worked too hard to get where I'm at!"
The orb! It had to have been the orb that did this." Jackie-in-Shanice said as she searched for the orb on the floor. She spotted it and picked up what was left of it. "It's broken..." she mumbled as she looked like she was about to cry.
"Wait! what's going on?" you asked
"We can't undo this right now and the wedding is going to start soon. I have to get dressed…” Jackie trailed off and looked over at Shanice in her body. Shanice's blue eyes went wide. Jackie beamed at her old body and suddenly demanded “Wait. Why were you even over here in the first place? This was our wedding prep room!”
Shanice was taken aback in Jackie’s blonde curls. “What am I doing here? I needed to find somewhere private so I could call the office! What are you doing with some freaky body switching orb at your own wedding!?”
You jump in, “It wasn't her fault… it was an anonymous gift that was just given to us.”
Jackie sighed in frustration. She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror; Her skin was chocolate brown and she looked thicker and heavier than what she was used to. The white zebra striped dress she wore looked tacky. Especially with the gaudy hoop earrings and the tribal looking necklace that rested above her now gigantic breasts. “It's too late to stop the wedding now. We have to just try to get through today and hope that we can find a way to undo this later. Sharon, you shouldn’t have to do much – everything should already be set. Just pretend to be me… and try to not screw this up.”
Shanice looked irritated. "Who the hell is Sharon!? First of all, my name is Shanice. Second, I'm not marrying Duncan. He's not my type." she said as she folded her arms.
You also objected. “Honey, I think switching bodies with my boss is a good enough reason to postpone the wedding. We should...”
Jackie cut you off. "Jerry, all our friends and family are here. Do you honestly believe telling them that the wedding is cancelled because of body swapping? They will think we're crazy. Everything has to look normal..." she said as she batted her now big brown eyes at you. She came up to you and wrapped her fleshier, chocolate colored arms around your neck and kissed you intensely. It felt weird kissing your boss like this, so you closed your eyes and just went with it. It was still the woman you loved after all.
Shanice pulled Jackie off of you. "Girl, get my lips off of him. If this wedding is about to start and I need to pretend to be you, you need to get me ready." Jackie swept her out of the room and lead Shanice to the bridal room to get ready.
You sat for a bit and stared at the broken orb on the table that caused all of this.
