Harry didn't really trust Draco Malfoy at all. He thought that he was a jerk. However Harry Potter wanted to trust the Sorting Hat...even though he did not like the idea of Slytherin being his house. The Sorting Hat told him that he could do great things in Slytherin. Even though Harry sometimes had a major disregard for the rules, Harry still wondered if he was a best fit in Slytherin.
Harry almost said 'Anywhere but Slytherin' but finally decided to trust the Hat in spite of his personal feelings.
He simply nodded and thought silently If I am the best fit for Slytherin and that I could do well as a wizard, OK...are you sure?
The Hat shouted SLYTHERIN finally. Many students in the Hall was stunned and the rest of them were sad or mad. Only maybe 2 or 3 were perhaps happy about it.
