Chapter #3

Try to find your best friend

My plan was to seek help from my friend Wade, who is in the army and works at the armory a few blocks away. But a few blocks! Oh, wow, that is so far for me now. But I knew I could trust him and that he probably is my best bet for safety plus is the one guy I have dreamt about to be a little person to. He is a big, tall, strong, guy that I hope would treat me well.

Since it is just nightfall, I thought it was my best time for travel. I figured I’d trek my way to the street and walk, or run, along the curb towards the armory. “Time to go” I said to myself. I shook as I thought of my future in this giant world, and yet I was excited too as this is what I had wanted all these years. I knew I had to stay hidden as much as I could so I wouldn’t get caught by the wrong person and, heaven forbid, a woman!

I peered around the corner of the skyscraper- like garage and saw no one around so I made a dash for it, out into the open and ran down the middle of the driveway towards the street. I looked back and forth as I ran, looking for giant cats or other people. After at least 5 minutes I reached the street, turned right and huddled against the curb. I was huffing and puffing and happy to be where I was, relatively safe I thought.

I figured it was around 10 pm so the street was relatively quiet and most people were inside. I sat and got my energy back as I watched a few giant cars and a gigantric truck go by. I never realized how fast 35 mph seems now. Finally I saw no vehicles in sight so I took off running along the curb, towards the armory.
