This choice: Your paw lands on the pad • Go Back... You felt the pressure pad moved downward when your paw pressed down on it. Your desperate movement nearly making you fall on the ground due to the sudden shift. You recover yourself and looked back to see new platforms forming in front of Rachael who thankfully moved to the new ones before the one she was standing fell.
You two continued down the path that was made, doing your best to make sure that you were careful, but quick to not let the falling platforms catch you off guard. Eventually some of the platforms needed one of the other to walk over or under the other companion. The actions made you a bit dizzy from the action, but you take a moment to compose yourself so you can steady your movements for the test.
Soon you found your progress being halt due to no Platforms appearing on his side. You figure that what happened to Rachael is happening to you, this is proven to be the case as platforms start to appear on the other side, too far for you to jump the gap. “Rachael! There’s going to be a switch on your side. Hit it fast!” You told her, looking back to see the vanishing platforms slowly approaching you.
Rachael doesn’t turn her head to you, but she nods her head to inform you that she heard your voice and understands the situation. For the time being, you wait at your area, readying yourself to move as you noticed the tiles disappearing closer and closer to you.
Your face starts to pale up when you saw the last tile from you is shaking for a moment before it fell into the abyss, dreading that you’ll soon fall down into it as well. Just as you closed your eyes, a voice cried out.
“Rai, move!”
You opened your eyes and turned to see that the tiles appeared to complete the gap and saw Rachael waving at you. You then felt your platform shaking and desperately moved yourself forward, making it to the bridge before it dropped. You continued to maneuver your way foreword with your friend doing the same, the end being close.
As you tried to rush towards it, you stumbled when the new platform moved to the side instead of forward. Thankfully you managed to stay on the platform and moved to the new direction. Eventually you managed to get on solid ground and saw the tile in front of you as you slowly walked and pressed the tile down.
You felt the area around you shudder as you look and see Rachael letting out a sigh of relief as she smiles at you. You return a smile back as the area around them started to go white, having the two cover their eyes. When they finally were able to see again, they find themselves staring at the shiny Ninetales who had a smile on her face.
"Heehee, very well done. You two worked together, remain focused despite risk of falling and passed the trial. One must be able to trust one another when it comes to any situation, not just Mega-Evolution."
You smiled at that as you open your mouth to speak. "So that means you can teach us how to utilize Mega-Evolution then?" You asked hopefully, only to get her index finger to your forehead.
"Hold your horses Rai. If I recall, I mentioned that I had a couple of trials that you need to pass." She stated, sporting a smile. "That means you have one more to solve, and this one... you must take on your own."
"Hold on, isn't the idea of Mega-Evolution is to test the bonds of the others?" Vargus asked.
"Having strong bonds isn't the only component needed." Felicity stated patiently. "Like how not being afraid of water doesn't mean you can swim."
Vargus rubbed the back of his head as he remained quiet as she turns her head towards you.
"I've already prepared a new scenario for you. If you are ready, we can get started."
You take a moment to compose yourself. You are nervous about facing this next challenge on your own, but seeing as you managed to pass one trial, it would've been a waste of time to stop in the middle of it. "Alright, let's get the second trial started." Rachael patted your shoulder as she got up, "Good luck Rai." She said and went to join the others.
Felicity gave you a smile from your answer. "I admire your conviction." she stated as she closed her foggy eyes. You braced yourself before the same reaction happens.
Once you regained your awareness back, instead of the familiar stone like room you expected, you saw what almost look like an island that is separated by a river to the land you are in. Just as you realized where you are, you felt not only presence near you, but a weight in your right arm. You look into your arm and find that you're carrying a bag. You open the bag and saw that it was filled with various types of edible seeds.
"Ow!" you felt something peck at your right arm as well as a chirp at your right side. You look down and saw a familiar small, orange feathered Pokémon who was staring right up at the bag with beaming happiness. It's very clear that the feral Torchic wants the seeds for itself. Just as you tried to keep the chick from getting the seeds, you suddenly felt something lean heavily onto your left side. You barely kept yourself upright as you turn to see a Houndoom yelping at you. No, it's more at your direction than you specifically with its eyes drawn to something else. You follow it and see that it was staring at the Torchic who had the same look the bird has.
You struggle to keep the Pokémon away from their specific targets as you approach the river. It's quite deep, but you might be able keep your head and the bag above the surface. Though you did ponder how the two fire types are gonna cross. They typically not a fan of water. Even taking a bath makes them uncomfortable as they grumbled and pattered the ground near the wet soil. You were about to try and motivate them until you heard light swishing behind you. You turn and spotted some fins gliding on the water surface. You barely recognized the pattern of the fin before a Basculin suddenly lunged out of the water towards you. You barely managed to knocked it away back into the water. The sudden attack did made you stumble to the ground as another lunged and bit at your hindpaw, making you squeak out in pain before you used a light shock on it, making it hiss out before flailing back into the river. You rubbed the bite mark it made before you heard a familiar giggle and voice sounded around you.
"Quite a pickle you are in right?" Felicity's voice spoke around you, though when you try and look around you don't see her.
"Yeah. It's clear that I have to get the Pokémon and bag across, but how can I do that with skittish fire types and Basculin infested river in my way?" you asked getting up. "Can I have a way to cross it safely, like bridge?"
"I can't make a bridge, but I can do this." you look and saw a row boat appearing at the edge of the river on your side. You smile at the sight of the boat as you guided the Pokémon onto the boat and started to row into the river. You don't get far however as you saw the boat starting to sink to where it'll overflow if you go out further. You forced the boat back onto shore as Felicity's voice spoke out.
"Oh, did I neglect to mention that the boat can only support two at a time? Silly me~."
You grumble from the teasing tone as you got the Pokémon and bag out of the boat, struggling to keep them away from their specific targets.
“Well as you stated before, just get all three onto the other side and you passed. Though be mindful of the situation. They won’t be able to help themselves.” Felicity's voice echoed until fading away.
You were confused at what she meant by that, but you shake your head as you focus on the current situation. Seeing as you have the Torchic, Houndoom, and bag of seeds to carry, you need to make five trips across the river. You groaned at such a tedious task, but you resigned to do it as you carry the Torchic with you. "Alright, let's get this over with." You sit the Torchic on the boat as you proceed to row it across the river.
You hear the Basculin trailing underneath it, but they don't attack. Though it doesn't make the Torchic any lest anxious as it moves into your lap against your chest. You shudder as the fire type's warmth pressed against you. Soon you made it to the other side of the river as you helped the Torchic off the boat and onto land.
"Stay here, I'll be back." you stated as you got back onto the boat and sailed back. The chick stares at you constantly, but doesn't move a muscle as you got the Houndoom and sailed back. You got the fire dog on land as you stare at the bag of seeds. Just one more run and back and you'll be done.
Your thoughts were distracted as you felt the Houndoom trying to get to the Torchic and the fire chick trying to keep away. You have a forboding feeling about leaving the two here for even a moment, but you don't have a choice... right...?
