Chapter #5A Big Mistake by: Sellet You are Teren, a simple village boy wandering around the forest as you have done so often. The dreams of your future are big as you envision yourself as a brave hero. Traveling the world righting wrongs, gaining riches, winning women. You have a feeling that you are destined for great things.
As you move through the woods, you spot a few large sticks planted in a clearing. They are seemingly placed at regular intervals. You notice many of them seem to have been partially burnt at some point. Whatever they are, they look perfect for practice. You charge at them while drawing your short sword. Cutting up one after another with a series of practiced swings until not one stands. You have a smug expression showing your satisfaction with your work. Until you hear a frustrated shriek from behind you.
Turning quickly, you spot a short plump woman with black hair and purple eyes. Those strange eyes are set in anger directly at you as she stomps forward. Before you can react she begins berating you in a loud voice.
"Do you have any idea what you have done!? Months of work made worthless in an instant! What am I going to do now? You stupid brat!"
You are very surprised by the outburst. Now that she was closer, you could tell you were a head taller than her. Judging from her neat black robe fringed in green and matching pointy hat, you guessed she was some sort of magic user. You give a little shrug and speak in a condescending tone.
"Sorry lady, but a mage like you should probably be more careful. Set up a keep away sign next time. Better yet, get a tower or join a guild that will let you practice your spells in peace. Tons of people and creatures walk through this forest, so it was only a matter of time until your little project was wrecked."
You laugh a little and shake your head. The woman's face grows red with rage as you speak. Clenching her fists tightly, her eyes bug then begin to glow as she screams even louder than before.
"I AM NO MERE MAGE! I AM A SORCERESS! I have no need to explain myself to a lowly idiot like you! But if this brutish little boy asks for a lesson, I will happily oblige."
Her voice is suddenly monotone and echoing as she chants in a strange language. Her eyes are now glowing purple circles. The severed sticks scattered around you glow with the same aura and begin to float. Suddenly, the sticks are rapidly flying toward you. You duck below one, cut another away with your sword, but the third one hits you hard in the back. Thrown off balance you are pummeled until a particularly large branch strikes you in the middle of the forehead, knocking you unconscious. As you fall into blackness, bitter words from the sorceress enter your mind.
"You will learn to respect magic."
These words bounce around your head in your restless sleep. When your eyes finally open, you can tell many hours have passed and it is now late afternoon. Your head is ringing with pain and your whole body feels strange. You simply lie there for a while, willing the pain to leave you.
"Stupid magic."
You mutter and cough. Your voice sounds foreign. You wiggle your body in confusion trying to get up. You groan in frustration and are again surprised by the sound produced. Your head is clearing and this time you are sure something is wrong. Lifting your head, you look down at your body and are in for a major shock. Instead of the human male form you possessed all your life you are now... | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
