It wasn't an unusual act for Janet; in fact, she did it every week. But this week's purchase of milk was going to change her family forever.
Janet was a 40-year-old single mother who looked like she was 37. She tried hard to keep her family under control, but the stresses of working 40 hours a week and of keeping three teenaged boys under control was usually more than she could bear.
Her three sons were Kyle, Craig, and Clay. They were all 15-year-old triplets, and, though not identical, looked and acted similar enough to often confuse strangers. They all had red hair and pale, freckly skin.
Craig was a bit bookwormish, and was the only one among the three who wore glasses. Clay was the clown of the group, often goofing around and pulling pranks on the other two. Kyle was more aloof and mysterious: he was a couple of inches shorter than Craig and Clay, which had caused him to be picked on a bit by them growing up. However, once high school started he had become somewhat of an athlete, joining the basketball team and becoming somewhat popular, though he could still be somewhat of a loner at times.
So that day, Janet came home and put the groceries in the fridge. Once Clay and Craig had gotten home from school, Janet started cooking dinner, and when Kyle got home from basketball practice, everyone was ready to eat.
