As Jane opened her mouth to give her suggestion, there was a rapt knocking sound on the door. Bob leaped to his feet, knocking a few papers from his lap in the process.
“I’m so sorry,” He apologized, looking toward the door. “I completely forgot that the plane flight time got moved up. I have to go, so I’m afraid we’ll have to cut this short. Feel free to finish up your drinks before you leave.” He grabs his briefcase, and grins at us. “And the wake up word for your friend is...linguini.”
The group of friends stared, not quite sure what to make of his choice as the hypnotist hurried from the room. As the door shut, Pete blinked, looking around the room as if he just woke up.
“What happened?” He said dumbly, looking to each of his friends’ faces.
They all chuckled as Susan explained, “Well, we didn’t get to make you do anything, but you were hypnotized. The poor guy had to leave before he could do anything else.”
Pete rolled his eyes. “Or he was just chickening out because he realized he’ll be caught as a phony. I’ll count it as a win on my part, even if I don’t get the cash reward that I was looking forward to.”
Before Pete could keep speaking on his so-incredibly-impressive skills, Jenny spoke up, sounding confused. “Llama?”
Pete froze mid sentence, and everyone turned to stare at the brown-haired girl as Steven asked in disbelief, “What did you do?”
“That guy, Bob, left some papers behind. This one had the ‘going under’ and ‘waking up’ words.” She waved one of the papers the hypnotist had knocked off the table in his rush to leave. “I guess we still will get to mess with Pete after all.”
Amy giggled, and Joe asked with a raised eyebrow, “Well, who should get to pick what he does first?”
Jenny bit her lip. “Uh, well, since I was going to suggest something before Bob had to leave, I think it might be kind of fair if I got to...if that’s alright?”
Everyone nodded in affirmation, and Jenny opened her mouth to speak...
