After making sure that the van's keys were in his pocket Kenji gathered up the supplies he had left and stepped out into the parking lot. There were a few zombies between him and the van and he had only one arm free to use his sword, but he had more than enough skill to easily cut down the level one zombies who attempted to hinder him. Four fresh bodies were sprawled out in the parking lot by the time Kenji made it to his van, all still bleeding from the devistating wounds inflicted upon them. "I can't wait to get out of this city... even if hell itself is where I have to escape to." Kenji said grimly as he sat the supplies on the floor of the van and pulled the door shut before a limping dog managed to get in. A soft rain began pouring as Kenji pulled out onto the empty streets of Rustone.
For the better part of an hour Kenji simply drove around looking for a place he could salvage some supplies, only to see large crowds of zombies near any major store he came across. Even many of the smaller stores and shops had too many zombies for him to deal with only a katana. "Everywhere, they infest this this place from the inside out... I need to get away from the center of the city..." Kenji said as he made a turn onto the main road heading north. He didn't know the layout of the city very well, although he knew where all the major locations were. "If I can make it out of the city I'll be able to get enough gas at the station out on the highway to make it to Vegas, if it hasn't met the same fate as Rustone..." Kenji thought to himself as he looked out his windows at the devistation that had occured after the last 3 days. "But before I do that I'll need to atleast stock up on water in case this piece of junk breaks down out in the desurt."
At that moment, as if on cue, the aged vehicle sputtered and began slowing down. "What?! No! I'm sorry, just please don't give out just yet!" The van made it to the next intersection before it finally came to a stop. "C'mon... c'mon... damn it!" Kenji cursed as he stepped on the gas pedal to no effect. He was stranded with only his katana near the center of a city slowly overflowing with the undead. For the first time in his life he felt truly fearful that he may not make it out of this alive. He was just about to step outside and continue on foot when he noticed something he had overlooked before. The van had simply run out of gas as evidenced by the flashing light on the fuel gauge. "That's right... I was going to get gas the next day, but then all this happened..." He said as he turned away and got out onto the empty road. After a quick look around Kenji realized he was on Clark street, which ment a gas station was less than a mile to the south. Of course, there was also an arcade nearby and the suburbs of Rustone were only a mile or so to the west. Seems Kenji has a rather important descision to make...
