"No, I'm good." Jake replied. "Probably gonna hang out with friends today or something."
"Okay, hon, have fun. I'll be back late tonight." The door closed behind his mom as she left.
Jake, meanwhile, was staring at the remote in his hands. It had to be fake. There was no way it wasn't. What kind of sci-fi bullshit would let people swap anything with someone? It was impossible. Nothing in real life could do something like that.
However... what kind of person wouldn't want to try it out on the slim chance it actually worked? It was obviously a joke, but if he tried it out, even if a friend of his was watching, as long as he didn't make a big deal about it, he could pass it off as playing along.
But if it did work...
He would have the time of his life.
Getting up and grabbing his shoes, the boy headed outside. He was going to find a good target for a test. Just someone who would be interesting. He had plenty of neighbors of all ages and personalities. Plus many of his friends were in walking distance. All he had to do was make a decision. Which was a lot harder than it sounded. Choice paralysis was a thing.
As Jake stood there contemplating where to go after locking up, a sexy female jogger in a black sports bra and shorts with blonde haired tied up in a ponytail ran by in the street and Jake couldn't resist eyeing her up. She was right there.
