Chapter #6

After their nap, time for dinner?

    by: Zaru Author IconMail Icon
Blair reopened her eyes, and stretched her body out on the couch, and flexed her claws on the couch, shook herself, and hopped down to the couch.

She napped heavily, for it was already nighttime and all the lights were off…

Except for the kitchen, and from the sounds of it someone must be having a midnight snack. And something wisped past her nose.

‘Huh, that smell is familiar…’ thought the cat to herself as she trotted into the kitchen, her nose high in the air. Suddenly her eyes went up with a start and a grin plastered on her face.

‘It’s from that bakery I visited today!’ She rounded the table and on the kitchen…

Was Maka eating from that same cake from the bakery! Blair couldn’t contain her meow of happiness and hopped up onto the table. The pig-tailed girl noticed the black cat.

“Blair. You’re awake.”

“Someone’s observant.” She plopped down in front of Maka, tail swishing as her eyes were on the piece of pumpkin cake, which the slice was already half-eaten. Maka noticed.

“You hungry?” She asked.

“That nap worked up a small appetite. Sleeping burns calories you know, and I totally recognize THAT scent from anywhere!”

“You do?” Blair nodded.

“Yep. I was there today, well yesterday if it’s past midnight. The owner of the place,” Blair plopped down and laid on her side. “Wasn’t exactly Adonis looking, but man not only is he a cutie patooty, he can bake!”

Maka’s eyes were raised up a bit. “Wow, I didn’t know you stopped by my part time job Blair.”

“Meow?”

“Oh that’s right I didn’t tell you and Soul. With that no good dad of mine,” Maka rolled her eyes. “Going to Vegas more recently with Stein and Marie I fear for the expenses so I got myself a job. Thankfully Lord Death seems to understand and has given me leave from Shibusen duties so that I can focus on getting enough income that whatever Spirit blows off we would have a safety net.”

“I see…” pondered Blair. “Well you should be a bit more easier on your dad.” She rolled onto her back. “He does love you very much you know.” Maka simply gave a ‘hmmph’ and went back to eating the cake piece, only much faster.

“If he loved me he wouldn’t dated twenty different women in under a month. Or split up from mom. Or be a total jerk towards Soul.” Blair could only smile.

“One day you’ll learn to forgive him. Trust me, holding grudges gives you wrinkles.” Maka narrowed her eyes a bit.

“Are you saying I have wrinkles?”

“I’m just playin’ with ya.” Chuckled the cat. “You’re as cute as ever Maka, and being mad at your dad will only make life bad for ya both. Give the guy a chance.”

Maka sighed and returned back to eating the cake piece.

“Can I have some?”

“Get food of your own you nymphocat.” Blair rolled her eyes and hopped off the table and towards the window sill. She opened the window.

“Fine. Leave the window cracked okay? I’ll be home by dawn.”

“Will do. Be careful.” And Blair hopped onto the fire escape, then the lower building’s rooftop, then onto a trash-can, then onto the ground. And she trotted along the streets.

“Maybe if I can find that cute baker’s place I could get some food from him!”
