This choice: Straigh ahead it is (to Bellwood) • Go Back...Chapter #6Off to Bellwood by: Unknown “Right it is” I said and start to carefully move in that direction.
“Right.” Isaac replied smiling, as if he wanted it this way. Scared of the villagers the other way. “May I ask one more thing of you?”
“And what would that be?” I ask as I stopped and looked to Isaac.
“May I have a ride.. Please?” he asked.
I hesitated at that question. Didn’t know how to answer it and when I didn’t answer him after a moment he started to explain why he asked in the first place, maybe thinking he said something wrong to me.
“Well because of our size difference I’ll be a lot slower then you, that’s all. I mean, well, if it offense you…”
“Stop.” I said without meaning to sound so strong. It was a little annoying though, I mean did I really need to repeat myself?
“Yes!” He said with a cracked voice. He then proceeded to curl up in obvious fear.
I rolled my eyes as I turned to him, not caring if I knocked over anything in the process. “Wow, really that’s all I can say. A second ago you were fine around me. You think I’m like lesser dragons? That I’d kill you, even after I said I wouldn’t kill needlessly?”
Isaac looked at me.
“Better. Now hope on” I said extending one of my claws and placed it down in front of him. I saw him cringe a little but he did clime on. I lift my claw off the ground and gazed at Isaac. “you think you could tell me why your so afraid of me all the sudden?” I ask plainly.
“I’ve been scared this whole conversation, Sorry.” he said
“No worries I think, we just met after all.” I said happily, hiding the fact, that I was hurt, yet at the same time, I did understand a little. After all, who in the right mind wouldn’t fear the unknown? Plus the fact that I was bigger then one of those things they lived in. I placed him on my shoulder and he walked a little ways to the middle of my upper back.
“Aah, Nodalisk?” he asked. “Why go to Bellwood? You said back to the village maybe safer right?”
“I do know both ways will lead to problems but in all truthfulness, I too don’t want to deal with those people back there.” I said as I turned back around and proceeded to walk again. “He got over it pretty fast.” I thought happily. “Now then, if you don’t mine. If you want to talk, climb up to my head. It’s hard enough to hear something so small even if it’s right in front of me.
I made great care not to leave a trail, of course that was a lot harder then I first thought. The road itself was rather large for humans but for me, a whole other story. I needed to squeeze through these trees without touching them and they were just tall enough that the sun couldn’t help me much. At least I’ve stopped bleeding by this point. Another is that it took me about an hour to get use to walking. I kept tripping on my own feet every now and then plus of course he asks me about it. I was thankful that he done what I asked of him and climbed up first and sat down.
“So, I take it you never walked this far before?”
“I barely walked at all.” I said. His look I imagined was that of confusion. “You said it before, We Seraphan are rare to even have a glimpse at. Why you think that is?” I asked
It was quiet for a moment. The only sound that was heard was my footsteps.
“Everyone that said saw one, the Seraphan was always spotted in the sky…“ he said. “Wait one guy said he saw one dead on the ground.”
“Why is that?” I asked
It didn’t take him long to figure it out. Showed me he can solve puzzles well enough. “The Seraphan live twenty-four seven, up in the sky!” he yelled. I laughed at his revelation, making him trip up and almost making him fall. I felt him scurry back to the middle of my head. “Close one. From this height I could die.” I heard him say.”
I apologized and I was a bit impressed that he still wanted to be up there. Considering he kept asking me question after question and I kept giving him riddle after riddle in till I found the amusement was gone from it.
“Enough Isaac, please.” I said
“Ok then, I guess I’m satisfied with what I got. Thank you Nodalisk.”
“Your welcome” I replied. I then felt Isaac heading down my neck. “Wait Isaac, if you please.”
He stopped and as he climbed back up he said “What’s up”
“How much longer in till where out of this place?” I asked
“We’ll be out of the forest in about a day or so maybe more. I know that it‘ll normally take me a week on foot, butt…” he answered.
“I haft to keep walking like this for a day?” I complained
“Like what, you mean this isn’t you just walking?” he said. I thought this was your normal way of walking, I mean you just said before that Seraphan never come down to earth so I simply thought that this was your walk.”
“I didn’t want to leave a path for them to follow.” I replied.
“You been walking this way for a few hours, right?. The sun is past noon and I see or hear no one. I think we’re fine. Relax.”
He was right. What the hell was I doing at that point? It was foolish, so I did what he said of me and relaxed. I spread out my legs and my overall mass was definitely wider then the road I stood on. I bent the trees on both sides of the road. I then proceeded to walk normally.
“Damn!” Isaac said.
“What is it?” I asked.
“You’re a lot faster this way. It could take us mere hours now!” he cried out.
Of course I was leaving a trail of bent or broken trees in my wake. “I hate the forest.” I stated out loud.
It was just like Isaac said. After three more hours we finally made it out of that wretched place. Just to be out in the open made the burns I got on my sides from the constant rubbing of the trees was worth it. Isaac was on my back walking up to my shoulder as I looked up to the sky. It was dusk at that point. I sighed and slowly laid down. “So, I think I’m going to rest for a bit.” I said to the air
“Right, first could you let me down?” Isaac asked.
“Right.” I sighed as I put up a claw for him. He climbed on and I put him down.
“If you care to take a look.” Isaac said. So I did. He was pointing to a mountain with lots of tiny lit up holes all over it. “That there, is Bellwood. I’m heading there for the night and most the morning. Is that ok Nodalisk? I mean I’m asking if I could go?”
I sighed in annoyance. “Please stop that. You don’t have to fear me. Your not my slave Isaac. Ok?”
“Right, sorry.” He said smiling.
“Thanks for telling me however.” I replied.
Isaac just nodded and headed to Bellwood as I laid there tired of all the walking. I just watched the tiny thing grow even smaller in my vision.
