"I want to introduce you to the kids you'll be babysitting." She led you down the hallway to a room with two kids, a boy and a girl, all excited; they were sitting on one bed, bare feet dangling, and they were leaning forward. "This is Cody," the boy ran towards his mother and burrowed his face in her dress, "sorry about him, he's shy. Cody, say hello!" Cody looked up from his mom's dress once, and down again.
"H-hi," Cody said, and buried his face once more.
Indicating the girl, the mother said "and this is Melissa."
"Hi" Melissa said, in a bratty kind of voice.
"Now, this is your babysitter for the next week!" The mother spoke to you in a quiet voice, "Cody is 4, so he'll need to go to bed at 8:00, but Melissa can go to bed whenever she wants."
That didn't sound fair to you, and you knew that Cody will have a problem if he has to go to bed, but Melissa can go to bed whenever she wants. In fact, YOU have a problem with that! But, whatever... It's not your rules...
"Okay, kids," the mom said, "I'm going now... Bye!"
Cody was hanging on to his mother's leg all the way to the door.
