After hearing about a newly discovered kryptonite, Clark Kent (otherwise known as Superman) came to investigate. All kryptonite, no matter what the color or the effect, needed to be carefully dealt with, because in the wrong hands it could mean disaster. Fortunately, they were the first ones to hear of it, so Clark was able to get to it first before any evil villains could.
As Lois did her interview with Professor Jameson, Clark took this chance to take a look at the kryptonite. It didn't appear to be the same variety as the blue kryptonite he had encountered before, this version was a different shade of blue, so it was indeed a new kind of kryptonite. Before he could observe any closer, however, someone in a lab coat went to the box, opened it and took out the kryptonite, the rays hitting Clark unprotected!
