You recognize your friend Jamie among the people laying on the floor. Actually, you recognize her by her dress, only now, on the floor asleep, is a muscular male with very short hair, and who looks ridiculous in a dress! It is only when you thought about her, well, if you were right, his hair, that you realized your hair was hanging past your shoulders. As you begin to move away, Jamie wakes up.
She, now he, looks around, then down at himself. He looks up at you. “What the hell is going on? And do I know you?”
For a moment you consider hiding who you are, but what would be the point? “Well, I don’t know what is going on exactly, but somehow we all seem to have passed out, and at least the two of us have changed gender.” When he stands up, he is much taller than you, and looks even more ridiculous in a dress. “And to your second question, I am your friend Paul.” You look down at yourself, “Though I am more of a Paula now.”
Jamie looks at himself, then at you. “Paul? Really?” He hesitates, “Um, I wonder if you would do a favor for me?” He hesitates. “I look pathetic wearing a dress with this body. Would you be willing to, well, um…”
You realize what he is getting at. You don’t like the idea of wearing a dress, but you have to admit he looks terrible, and nobody would blink at you wearing one the way you look. “Well, okay, but even if you can squeeze into these pants, I doubt you could wear my top. You are huge and I feel so tiny now.”
You both go into the bathroom and close the door. On your insistence, he steps inside the shower and closes the curtains. You feel odd undressing, and you are surprised to realize what you had not before. You are wearing a bra and panties. You toss your clothes into Jamie and he tosses the dress out to you. You get a new shock when you slip it over your head, and when you get it into place, it has shrunk to fit you just like it was meant to. Unfortunately, that means the skirt if on the short side. Just when you think it is bad enough, a pair of pantyhose lands on your head. After a little consideration, you shrug. They are harder to put on than you thought!
Jamie says, “It is safe to come out Paula?”
You start to protest. The Paula thing was not meant to stick! Then you just sigh and say, “Sure.”
Jamie looks at you and down to himself. You clothing has adjusted to fit him as the dress adjusted to you. He grins, “I think we were meant to do that. And the dress sure looks a lot better on you!”
You feel yourself blush, and try to change the subject, “Do you think everybody changed? What could have caused this?”
He shrugs, “Let’s look around. See who we recognize. Then maybe turn on the news.”
