"What's with the screaming?" you asked, sounding annoyed, behind them.
Hannah and Hayley turned around, ghostly pale before Hannah gave a loud sigh of relief and gave you a tight hug. "I thought you had been pulled into the book!" she cried. "Don't scare me like that!"
"What are you talking about?" you asked, honestly confused. "Have you been into the sugar again?" you then turned to Hayley and grinned. "Welcome home, Hayley, it's great to see you back, where have you been all year?"
"It's a long story, John." said Hayley, with a weary sigh. "Please, don't ask, you'll find out soon enough."
"That sounds fair." you said lightly, well hiding your concern as Hannah released you, confused. "Can I offer my help, taking your luggage to your room?"
"Thanks, John." said Hayley, smiling again. "I missed everyone."
You then shared a warm hug with her then took up her two bags and carried them upstairs, quietly humming to yourself as Hayley gave Hannah a worried look before following you up the stairs without a word. She did not want to tell Hannah that she had seen you vanish from the room, fearing that she would jump to the wrong conclusions and panic.
"There is a perfectly logical explanation to what I saw." thought Hayley, reaching her room. "I just don't know what, yet."
Later, inside your bedroom, you were becoming more and more curious about the similarities between the magic book you had found and your book of chaotic science. "Could Hayley be a... witch?" you thought, thinking. "That would explain her long absence, she had been away, training." you frowned. "I have to find that magic book and give it a second look."
Unknown to you, Hannah was in her own room, sulking, almost crying. "I know I saw John using magic!" she whispered, tearfully. "Why didn't he confess?" she sobbed a little before a thought came to her. "May... Maybe mom told him the same thing she told me, don't reveal your powers until you see another Harrison using them."
Rubbing away her tears, she decided to confront you and marched out of her room to yours and found the door open ajar. Curious, she peered inside to find you in the middle of your room, grinning as articles of clothing were flying about the room on their own! Hannah took in a deep breath and smiled as she watched you make a pair of pants walk across the floor, fold itself in mid air, then fly into one dresser drawer.
"That's definitely magic!" she thought to herself. "John, a male witch!"
Hannah had forgotten that only girls could be witches. If she had remembered, she would have panicked immediately but instead, she decided to run off and find mom. Unfortunately for her, you heard her run off and quickly went to doing everything normally. When Hannah had dragged mom to your room, she seemed slightly annoyed.
"This had better not be a joke, young lady." she scolded, knowing about her brother, Jack's unstable science. "Boys can not do such things, if you make me reveal our secret early..."
Mom opened your bedroom door, hoping to catch you off guard but instead found you putting your clothes away and picking up your room as you had always done. "Hi, mom!" you said, cheerfully. "What's up?"
"But... But... I saw him!" wailed Hannah, in tears.
You really did not want Hannah to get into trouble for being honest so you walked over to her and placed a hand onto her forehead, discretely using your pyrokinesis to raise Hannah's body temperature slightly without harming her. "Oh, wow, Hannah!" you breathed. "You're really warm!"
Hannah, now feeling nauseous from the sudden rise in body temperature, began to shake slightly. "I know what I saw!" she thought, crying to the pain in her head. "I know I saw him use magic!"
Mom then felt Hannah's head, discretely using her magic and sensed that her sudden change in body heat was unnatural and turned to you, concerned. "Did Jack..." she thought, concerned.
She decided to dismiss it, for the moment, and carried a now moaning Hannah, suffering from the moderate headache you had given her. Mom tucked Hannah in and magically caused her to fall asleep before using a spell to gradually take care of her headache.
"Sorry, Hannah." you thought with a low sigh. "I'll find a way to make this up to you later but right now, my powers have to remain a secret, especially from mom.... that was uncle Jack's dying wish."
Later hat night...
