This choice: Hayley drags Hannah to mom. • Go Back... Hayley fell into tears the second the magic book closed on its own, fearing you had been absorbed into the pages and were lost to her forever. "John!" she whispered, sobbing. "I'm sorry!.... Good bye."
"Hayley?" asked Hannah, almost whispering. "Can you bring him back?"
Suddenly, Hayley turned to Hannah with anger and betrayal clear in her eyes and tears as she roughly grabbed her sister's arm and pulled her along as she hurried up the stairs, almost literally dragging her along.
"Hayley!" yelled Hannah, sobbing. "Stop!... OW!... OW!!... You... You're hurting me!"
Hayley ignored Hannah, she was furious and in mourning. Hannah had recklessly left her magic book for you to find and now she believed that you were magically trapped within the pages with no way to return.
"Hayley, PLEASE!" begged Hannah as Hayley reached the top of the stairs. "OW!... OW!!..."
"Shut up, sis!" sobbed Hayley, becoming irrationally furious. "Don't talk to me! Don't ever talk to me again!"
"What's going on out here!?!" demanded mom, coming out of her bedroom.
Hayley dragged Hannah to mom, screaming in pain, and tearfully explained what she saw happened. Mom turned ashen white and slumped to her knees, also believing that she had lost you forever.
"Hannah, how could you be so careless?" she asked sobbing. "I told you what would happen to John if he ever looked into a magic book!" she paused, tearfully shaking her head. "Pack your bags, young lady! I am going to..."
Before she could finish Mel came running up the stairs, demanding to know why everyone was screaming and crying. Hayley turned, giving Mel a tight hug, crying on her shoulder, making her worried.
"John's gone, Mel!" she said, crying hysterically. "It's Hannah's fault!"
Mel turned to mom who nodded morbidly making Mel even more concerned as she turned to Hannah, nursing her soar arm, crying as well. "Have you three all gone crazy!?!" she asked, completely confused. "John's just fine!"
Mom, Hayley, and Hannah all looked up at her, now confused themselves. "He's... fine?" asked Hannah, in tears.
"Well, yeah." said Mel, thinking her mom and sisters had gone insane. "He's in the basement doing laundry as he had everyday, at this time, for the past year now."
Without a word, Mom, Hayley and Hannah all ran passed Mel, hurrying down the stairs, towards the basement with her following demanding to know what was going on. As they reached the basement, they found you, pulling a load from the washer, into the dryer, humming to yourself. You turned, hearing them rush in and were immediately concerned as you took notice of their tears and fearful expressions.
"Um... is something wrong?" you asked, slowly.
Hannah immediately ran to you, crying, and hugged you tight. "I'm sorry!" she sobbed. "I'm so glad you got of the book!"
"Out of the what?" you asked, confused, scratching your head. you turned to the rest of the family and spotted Mel, shrugging her shoulders, shaking her head. She too had no clue what was going on.
Then Hayley stepped forward. "John, did you find and open a magic book?"
You looked at Hayley confused, then remembered. But you did not wish to mention your secret, not yet. "I found a book with the title, 'The Magic Book' in the living room." you replied, honestly. "It was interesting but not really my 'cup of tea'." you chuckled. "It had the strangest warning on the front page..."
You then recited the warning, word for word, throwing Mom, Hayley, and Hannah into complete shock. "You... You were able to read it!?!" asked Hayley, now shaking.
"Well, duh!" you replied. "It 'was' in English."
Then, you noticed the deep red marks on Hannah's arm. "What happened to you!?!" you asked.
Hannah began to sob again. "Hayley, she thought that... that..."
"Hayley did this to you!?!" you asked, shocked. you turned to her, your eyes demanding an explanation.
"There was a misunderstanding." said mom, quickly. "But, before I explain, I need to know something."
She then stepped forward and placed a light hand onto your head before looking deep into your eyes. You stood still, fearing that she would, somehow, discover your secret. Finally, she removed her hand and took a step back.
