Not wanting Mom to know and freak out, or worse, have Hannah overhear and be chasing you all over the house, you decide to talk to ask Megan to help you. Hayley grabs a hooded sweatshirt from your closet and tossed it to you.
"Put it on and throw the hood up!" she told you. "Mel and I will sneak you next door. Hopefully, Megan will be home."
You slipped into the sweatshirt and put the hood up, covering your hair, then followed your sisters out, down the stairs to the hallway to the back door. As you sneaked passed the the living room, you heard your mother talking to Hannah and could not overhear part of the conversation.
"Don't... touch... John?" asked Hannah, sounding confused. "Why, mom? Is he sick or something?"
Your mother giggled. "Something like that." she replied. "You see, because he and Mel are twins..."
You could not help feel betrayed as you slipped into your shoes and sneaked out of the house. After Hayley quietly closed the door behind her, the three of you hurry to Megan's house and knock on the door. Katie Thompson, Megan's mother answerers, presently.
"Hey, guys." she said. she turned to you, confused. "Um... John, it's eighty some degrees outside. Aren't you a little warm in that?"
"Is Megan home, Dr Thompson?" asked Mel.
Katie shook her head. "No, she's out, shopping." she looked at you three, suspiciously. "What is this about?"
"It's a medical concern." said Hayley, thinking quickly. "May we please come in?"
Concerned by the term, 'medical condition', being a medical doctor, Katie stepped aside and allowed you and your sisters to enter. Inside the living room, she offered you a seat.
"What is this about a medical condition?" asked Katie.
"Dr Thompson, you have been friends with my mom for years, right?" asked Hayley.
Katie nodded. "Yes, we've been friends since childhood." she paused. "I know you know, Hayley..."
"Mel and John know as well." replied Hayley. "That is part of the problem we have. You see..."
Hayley explained the events that led them to come to her house, to which Katie giggle and pushed back your hood and giggled a little louder, making you blush.
"Oh, my!" she said. "I can see now why you wanted Megan to fix your hair!" she laughed. "But, she does not know about your mother being a witch so I will dye it for you myself, John."
You breathed a sigh of relief but felt a tinge of dread as she added, "But I have to tell your mother." she saw your worried look and laughed. "Don't worry, John. I've known your mother for years, she's not as bad as you might think she is."
Katie called your mother while Hayley magically summoned the hair dye. Once she was off the phone, Katie then took the hair dye and got to work, returning your hair to its original color.
"W... What did mom say?" you asked, fearful.
Katie smiled. "I told her you were scared that she might get angry at you and punish you in some way because you were starting to transform." she explained. "She got a good laugh out of it." she laughed herself. "She told me to tell you three that she is not mad at all and that you should not to be afraid to talk to her about anything."
You let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness." you thought.
Within a few minutes, Katie was done and she handed you a mirror. To your relief, your hair was brown again.
"Thank you, Dr. Thompson." you said. "I really appreciate you helping me."
"Your welcome." said Katie. "But I must tell you, as a doctor, it is not healthy to isolate yourself. Slowly transforming into a girl is far better a fate than slowly going mad from not being able to touch anyone in your family, in fear of becoming one."
Your heart sank to that. "I... I'll think about it." you said.
"I know you are scared and uncertain, John." said Katie. "But take it from someone who has been a girl all her life, it's not all that bad."
"Easy for you to say." you thought. "You were not born a boy."
Upon returning home, you are greeted by...
