Chapter #3

Remain calm

Maybe it was because I was not yet fully awake and I thought I was dreaming or it was because of my curious nature, either way, I was not frightened enough to scream out loud. Instead a low yelp escaped my lips and I touched my side to see if I was still there. To my relief, I could feel my own body with my hands but, apparently, nothing else could.

"Have I suddenly died?" I thought, trying to reason things out. "Am I a ghost?"

I slapped myself, it stung and I could hear the slap and then I could feel the water again. Looking down, I saw my naked body once more and breathed a half hearted sigh of relief as i felt myself shaking. "I wonder what happened?" I whispered.

After finishing my shower, I began to towel myself dry and found I was falling into a bit of a trance. When one does the same routine every morning, it becomes almost automatic and can can do it in one's sleep. That was the type of trace I was falling into and, suddenly, my body was gone again! Only this time, I could feel the towel against me. Curious, I whipped the towel so that a piece of it my hand was not touching would hit me, it went through me as if I was not there.

"It seems only objects I am directly touching can touch me." I mussed. "Interesting but how did this happen?"

Still more curious than afraid, I decided to try slapping myself again to make myself solid so I could get dressed and try to reason everything out on paper. SLAP! I became visible again but made a mental note to find a less painful way to 'break the spell' making me like a ghost.

"Curiouser and Curiouser." I said, getting dressed. "Welcome to Wonderland, Susan."

Finally out of the shower, I retreated to my bedroom and sat behind my desk before grabbing a pen and began to collect my thoughts about the strange incident. I had surmised that my... condition was triggered by a mild trance like state and 'deactivated' by coming out of that trance. However, it was beyond my ability to even speculate what had caused it in the first place as it was the first time this had ever happened.

You have the following choices:

1. I look into my gandma's diary.

*Noteb*
2. I look into my dad's family journal.

*Noteb*
3. I search the web for answers.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
