Chapter #4

I look into my grandma's diary.

I decided that the best place to start was with my grandma's diaries. She used to write things down obsessively, until a stroke left her paralyzed. If there had been anything like what I was going through, it would be there.

I skimmed through a few volumes, looking for any mention of sudden disappearances or weird goings-on. Sadly, the only disappearances I could find had routine explanations, elopements and the like. If there was someone like me before, it didn't seem to be on that side of the family.

"Susan." I heard my mother calling. "Come on down here." I put Grandma's diaries aside and headed down.

Mom and Dad were waiting for me. "What's up?" I asked.

"We have an important announcement," Dad said.

Mom nodded. "We'll be keeping it secret for another couple months, but we'll tell you, now." The two of them joined hands, and Mom said, "I'm pregnant."

"Congratulations," I said, hugging them both.

As I looked at my mother, my vision seemed to go blurry for a moment. Then, I saw something unbelievable.

It seemed like I was looking through Mom. Her clothes and skin seemed to disappear, like I had done in the shower, except she didn't vanish completely. I realized I was looking into her womb, and I saw... two tiny shapes.

Mom and Dad didn't say she was having twins. Did they know yet? Could the doctor determine that, at this point?

First, I start disappearing. Then, I start seeing through things. Would I be able to control these newfound abilities?

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Back to researching disappearances

*Noteb*
2. Researching pregnancy

3. That night, in the family room

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
