Chapter #6

The Garden of the Manor

    by: howdyboy Author IconMail Icon
Kayla, still in her fairy costume, striped tights, and pink punk chucks, walked with her new partner, the head-goblin Finn, through the eerie fog. Finn, holding on to her skirt, directed her in the right way.
"How much further, Finn?" asked a concerned Kayla. She could hardly see anything within ten feet from her.
"Not far," said Finn. Kayla continued to look around. Even though she couldn't see through the fog, she didn't want anything creeping up on her. After a few minutes, Finn said, "We're there!" He then brought Kayla up and she noticed a gate through the fog. The two approached the gate and grabbed onto the bars to peek through. Once they looked up, the eerie fog began to whither away, revealing a creepy old haunted mansion atop a hill. The two stared at it, scared.

"There it is, Harper Manor," said Finn. He looked up at Kayla, "Nervous?" Kayla gulped and nodded. "Well, whatever's in there may be an answer to breaking the curse. But we have to go in there to see, ok?"
"Ok," said Kayla. With hesitation, she opened the large gate and the two of them slowly walked up the hill towards the mansion. Because Kayla was scared, Finn walked closely in front of her, watching carefully. The wind bustled, crows 'crowed', and the moon glistened yellow with the dark red sky.

While they walked up the path, Kayla became curious about the mansion's history.
"Hey, Finn," she started, "do you know what happened here?"
"Sadly no," sighed Finn, "This place has been abandoned for a hundred years."
"You don't know about the owners?"
"I know that they were very wealthy, I think the young master of the house was supposed to marry. Oh, and they took very good care of their garden. I heard it was spoken about all over the country." Kayla looked at all of the withered bushes, flowers, and other plants; they were nothing but dying weeds.
"Hehehe," Kayla giggled, "Looks like they haven't been doing a good job taking care of their prized weeds have they?"

Without warning, the ground began to shake underneath them. Kayla screamed.
"What's happening?!"
"I don't know!" Finn was knocked to the ground. Suddenly, a group of giant green roots erupted from the ground beside Kayla. She was frozen in fear. He legs trembled (like a cartoon character). The vines acted like they had minds of their own. The big one lowered its tip towards the frightened Kayla, studying her. Then it was joined by three other roots who attacked Kayla. She screamed in horror as the tentacle-like vines grabbed her arms and legs and took her up in the air. She struggled, but they were too strong.
"Help!" she screamed. Finn then came to his senses.
"My Queen!" he jumped up and slashed at one of the vines as hard as he could. Nothing. A tinier vine then swatted Finn away. Afterwards, other vines crept up towards Kayla's feet. They then began undoing her shoes and pulling off her tights. Kayla gasped at what they were doing; the vines were after her feet as well.
"Oh no," she began to struggle even more. But just as her tights came off, two vines lowered to her feet and began tickling her. Kayla, frozen at first, began squirming even more. She began aughing at the feel of the vines dancing across her soles and in between her toes.
"No-hohoho! Pl-plea-se...hahaha...sto...hahaha...stop!!! Aheheheehehhahahah!!!" The poor girl bucked and wiggled, trying to get free. But the vines kept hold of her and tickled her defenseless feet. Finn ran up and jump, a stick in hand, and tried swatting away some of the vines.
"Hold on, Miss Kayla! I'll get you out of there!" At first he succeeded, but more vines grabbed him and threw him away. On of them even slapped him. Meanwhile, Kayla continued to laugh at the humilating torture the rooted vines were giving her. It was like they loved tickling her feet. Or perhaps this was punishment?
"Hahahahaha!" Kayla laughed, tears began to form, "I-I'm so-s-sorry, ahahahah!!!" One of the vines began scratching the ball of her left foot, sending her into a frenzy. Kayla, despite the laughter, though about why they were tickling her; they must be mad she insulted them! She tried and tried again to apologize, but the cursed vines didn't care. They loved Kayla's feet and wanted to tickle her senseless so she would learn her lesson. Kayla continued to laugh as the vines wiggled between her sweaty toes.

Meanwhile, Finn jumped atop a large rock. He watched in anger as the vines tickled his poor, young Queen senseless. He growled.
"I didn't want to do this, but..." Finn jumped down towards the vines, clapped his hands, and pressed them against the ground. With that, an electrical surge engulfed the vines and roots, shocking them. Kayla, unharmed, watched as the vines dropped her to the ground. It was over.

Tickly tears in her eyes, Kayla rose up and obsereved what happened; the vines had stopped moving and were lying on the ground.
"You alright, milady?!" asked Finn, concerned. He was somewhat out of breath.
"I'm fine, thank you very much!"
"Don't mention it."
"What did you do?" asked Kayla, who began walking around the vines.
"I paralyzed them, temporarily. It's a head goblin's duty to know some magic. Only problem is it can drain your energy." Kayla picked up her tights and noticed that they were singed. She dropped them, but noticed her shoes were still in good condition. She quickly slipped her feet in them. Then she noticed some movement in the vines.
"Umm... Finn?" Finn who was still trying to catch his breath grabbed her skirt and pulled.
"Hurry, Queen Kayla. The magic is wearing off." Nervous, they both hurried towards the entrance to the mansion, opened it's giant doors, rushed inside, and closed them shut.

Kayla and Finn, now inside, rested against the door, sighing with relief; they were safe from the vines. However, Kayla looked up and observed the room they were in. It was a giant hall, gold tiles, red drapes. But it looked like it hadn't been walked in for years. Kayla was still scared of the house, but it was better than outside.
"Thanks again, Finn," she said, "You really... Finn?" She looked beside her to see Finn, lying down out of breath. "Finn! What's wrong?"
"That magic took a lot of my...ah... energy."
"Oh no," said Kayla, worried, "what should I do? What do you need?" Finn didn't answer, ashamed somewhat, "C'mon, Finn. Tell me!"

Finn then looked at his Queen and confessed...

You have the following choice:
