A speedy getaway

"Alright, I guess I'll take this one..." Frank said nervously as he lifted the gun out of the box. Rob gave him a smile and padded him on the back. "Ah, the Ak-47. Not quite as loud as a grenade launcher, but great for moving down the hordes of undead." Frank didn't really like using guns, yet felt a lot safer with his new weapon. "Just so you know, I've only fired a handgun before, not something like this..." He said as he looked over the powerful gun. Rob gave him a surprised look. "Its real simple, just pull the trigger when you see something move... that shouldn't. Its set to full auto, so you just need to make sure you actually hit something when you fire. I've got plenty of extra rounds, but we can't afford to waste ammo." Rob picked up his shotgun and headed back out into the store. "Wait here, I'll sneak out and bring the car around." He called as he walked over to the windows and looked outside. "I better do this quick... be ready to jump inside when I get back around, I'm not stopping and you'll get left behind if you're too slow." Frank didn't like the sound of this. "Wait, I just got here, shouldn't we-" The sound of the door slamming cut him off as Rob ran around the side of the store and disappeared. A few birds stirred in the distance, but didn't bother chasing him, he could just run back inside if they attacked him. They wouldn't make another move unless he was dumb enough to try and cross the parking lot.

Frank scratched his head as he stood just behind the large glass window, looking out into the night sky. It was so beautiful with the stars and moon shining overhead that it almost made Frank forget what lurked beneath it. He was lost in thought for only about a minute before he was snapped back to reality. A loud engine started and tires could be heard screeching. Quickly Frank ran outside and waited for Rob. The sound of the car grew louder and a small vehicle pulled out from around the other side of the store. Rob honked the horn and yelled for Frank to get in. Easier said then done. The car must have been going at least 40 miles an hour. Frank gulped as he ran across the road, turned back around, and jumped onto the opened passenger side door as it whizzed past. He tossed his Ak-47 in the back seat and quickly climbed in before shutting the door. "Nice job!" Rob said cheerfully as he sped around a corner onto the highway. Frank's heart was beating faster then it ever had before and his hands were shaking uncontrollably. "G-good job?!" Frank stammered angrily. "I just jumped onto a moving car! What in god's name were you thinking?!" Rob gave him a grin.

"Sorry, I had to outrun a couple level twos that saw me start the car. If I had slowed down they might have climbed on." Frank shifted in his seat as he struggled to get his seat belt on. "Ugh, just try not to be so reckless next time okay? You almost gave me a heart attack..." The duo moved along the mostly abandoned highway for about an hour before taking an exit off onto a back road, before finally coming to a wreck that blocked their path. "Well shit!" Rob shouted as he stopped the car and got out. He walked up to two crashed cars that cut off their way forward and looked around. Up ahead he could see a large sign advertising a reststop, a diner, and a motel further up ahead. He let out a sigh and walked back over to the car and got in. "Looks like we've got two choices, Frank." He said as he sat back down. "We can get out, and kept going on foot, or turn around and keep moving along the highway."
