Chapter #4

Narrow escape

There were only 3 desks left before Betty could open the door and escape, but would she get out in time? The beasts were about to bite into her legs when she slamed the desk in her hands down onto them as hard as she could, causing them to make sickening noises as they were crushed like grapes. Betty was disgusted at the sight, but knew she had to hurry up if she wanted to get away. She picked up the 2nd desk and threw it at the Carrier that was now crawling at her at a fast pace. The desk only managed to graze its shoulder, but it was enough to slow it down and allow Betty to grab the final obstruction to her freedom. By now the remaining beasts were starting to move around the desk that had crushed their friends. Betty decided to ignore them for the moment and tossed the last desk at the Carrier. Her aim was much better this time and the Carrier took a sharp hit to the face. Betty knew that it wasn't enough to kill it, but had no time to finish it off. She opened the door and stumbled out into the hall just as a zombie rat made a swipe at her leg. She slamed the door behind her, cutting a few of the Beasts in half, and ran down the hall as fast as she could. Up ahead of her was the stairway that led to the main hallway downstairs, the door to the school library, and the boys/girls restrooms. Where should she go?
