Chapter #5

Curious Kitsune? Or something else?

    by: Unknown
Inari paused before she continued on any further. "It was because I let them, I'm searching for someone within these walls." Inari said as she went back to roasting the meat from the carts. For some reason she felt like she could trust this human. Which reminded her... "You never introduced yourself." Inari said suddenly, looking pointedly at Felix. Her two tails had began to wave about behind her as well. It wasn't like she couldn't find out herself, she just wanted to know who it was that would be her talking companion for the next few days, or weeks, depending on how fast she found the person it was that she was searching for.

Felix was a bit stunned from her earlier statement. "She let herself be caught? Just to search for someone? Why would she do that?" Felix thought to himself before Inari pretty much demanded a name. Felix shook his head to clear it. "S-sorry. Me name is Felix." Felix said, introducing himself to Inari. Felix was inwardly glad that Inari wasn't some mindless beast like what Lord William made them out to be. Although that begged the question, who exactly was it that she was searching for? "Um...you said you were searching for someone...who were you searching for?" Felix asked Inari curiously.

Inari knew what it was that Felix was thinking. It was kind of obvious from the reaction he had on his face after she said what it was that she did. But she refrained from answering his unspoken question as the boy introduced himself to her. His name was Felix. "Felix...that's a nice name." Inari said, pausing after she had said his name before she committed it to memory. Then Felix got the look like he was about to ask a question, and she payed full attention to him. His question turned out to be who it was that she was searching for. Inari thought about it. She wondered if she should tell Felix the answer. Even if she did feel like she could trust him, if she told him, it would probably put him in danger if he let it slip. "I don't know if I should tell you Felix. I mean, if I do, it might put you in danger. I need to know if you can keep your mouth shut, and not say anything about it accidentally." Inari said, the worry in her voice apparent. She was worried, but not about telling Felix oddly enough, she was worried for Felix himself. Odd that, as she had only just met the young boy.

Felix looked at Inari as she said his name. A strange feeling came over him when she said it as well. He couldn't quite understand it either, and before he could even begin to, Inari was already answering his question. So, the person she was looking for was either extremely dangerous, or extremely important...if not both. "You don't have to worry Inari. I know how to keep my mouth shut...I never talk to anyone anyways." Felix said, a little bit of sadness in his voice as he did so as well. In a sense, he was alone. All the other slaves were long since broken, their spirit gone, so Felix couldn't really talk to anyone about his dreams of freedom. All that would do would be to get him lashings, as a slave who told Lord William about anyone hoping to escape got whipped, and the slave an extra scrap of food.

Inari looked at Felix as he talked, and his assurance lifted the doubt that she had in her. However, she also heard the sadness in his voice when he said he didn't talk to anyone. This, more than anything, caused Inari to suddenly bring Felix into a hug, shocking him at the gesture. Not once had he been hugged by anyone, and he couldn't remember anything from his before five years ago. "Well, you have me to talk to now." Inari said before she released him and smiled at him. "The person I am trying to find..."

You have the following choices:

1. "Is extremely important." Inari said softly.

*Noteb*
2. "Is extremely dangerous..." Inari said cautiously.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
