Chapter #6

A kitsune with a mission.

    by: Unknown
Inari looked around before she bent towards Felix and whispered in his ear. "The person I am trying to find is extremely important. I was sent here by an elder kitsune, one with the power to foretell the multiple paths of the ever changing future. She told me that within these walls, lay someone that will one day be able to overthrow the tyrant trying to chop down our forest." Inari said in a hushed voice, and Felix had a dim awareness that Lord William was also attempting to chop down a forest, but some type of mystic energy was scaring the soldiers away. 'Could it be kitsune magic?' Felix thought to himself, but pulled himself out of his thoughts to listen to Inari. "The only problem with this person is that the elder kitsune couldn't see who it was. I have no idea if it is male or female, young or old, slave or free. The only thing I DO know is that I am supposed to guard this person with my life, and bring them back to the elder kitsune, or if that is impossible, try to get into contact with another kitsune." Inari said, and Felix nodded his head. So, essentially, she was searching for any number of people in this building. "I doubt you can search as you are. Why don't I help you out? No one suspects a slave, and I have to go about this castle to do my duties." Felix offered, and Inari smiled at Felix. "I was hoping you would do that. It's great to know that there are still nice humans out here." Inari said as she scooted back and transformed back to her original, rather large form. "I'm done eating for now. Thanks for not running away Felix." Inari said in his head, and he smiled sheepishly at her. "You didn't really give me a chance you know." Felix said as he pointed to the wall of fire behind him. "Oh!...Uh...sorry?" Inari said, and Felix could just imagine a sheepish expression on her face. With a quick wave with one of her tail, the fire vanished, and Felix was free to go. "I'll be coming back around night time with dinner, so we can talk more then." Felix said to Inari as he started to push the cart out of the room. As soon as he walked out of the door with the cart, the guards just looked at him. "Well I'll be, looks like you didn't become lunch for the beast!" One of the guards said, and Felix just kept quite. He already knew that they had made a bet, and this was confirmed when a few coins exchanged hands, and Felix just pushed the cart back to where it belonged before he hurried off to continue with the rest of his duties.

Meanwhile, Inari was sitting in the cell, thinking about Felix, and wondering if he was the one she was supposed to guard. It would be great if that were true, but she would need to have proof before she jumped to the conclusion. Just because he was nice didn't mean that he was the one she was searching for. She was certain that she could handle anything these dumb humans could throw at her, but she would like it if she were able to complete her mission soon. Maybe she could also bring Felix with her when she and the person she was searching for escaped from this place.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. A few days later, there's a new slave, a girl at that.

2. Weeks pass, and nothing out of the ordinary happens.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
