This choice: The same skinny girl she'd always been (yet her stomach seems a little bigger) • Go Back...Chapter #4The same skinny girl she'd always been (yet... by: Unknown A fairly lithe young teen grinned back at Leaf through the mirror. She had never put that much stock into looks, but decided that if there was ever a time, now would probably be it. It wasn't everyday one become a pokemon trainer after all. Her mother often liked to boast how Leaf inherited her good looks. But Leaf had inherited another thing from her mother...
At sixteen, her mother's metabolism had plummeted, and to this day she was a good deal overweight. Leaf had never heard her mother complain that much about it - in fact, she often indulged in her own cooking, and Leaf couldn't blame her. Where most kids got cold cereal or maybe toast, over the summer Leaf had enjoyed stacks of homemade pancakes with plenty of butter, or a set bacon and eggs that was honestly the only reason she could bear to drag herself out of bed each morning. But recently she had been getting warnings from her mother that if she didn't change her naturally lazy, easy-going lifestyle it would come back to haunt her.
So maybe that explained the struggle Leaf had that morning with her light pink skirt. She actually pinched some excess flesh in the zipper. Leaf looked at herself again, fully dressed. Nothing looked that out of the ordinary. Her teal shirt was tight around her belly, which curved out a little away from her in a way it hadn't weeks ago. Leaf gave her reflection a shrug. She wasn't the most observant girl in the world. Everything looked fine, so she decided to head downstairs for breakfast. Actually, her stomach decided for her - once she had gotten a whiff of her mother's cooking it had started grumbling, highlighting her emptiness.

"Thanks mom." Leaf smiled as her mother handed her a stack of pancakes five high. Her mother smiled back, a hearty but active woman who loved to cook.
"Today's the big day, isn't it?" she asked. Leaf nodded, mouth stuffed to the brim with pancake. Her mother sighed. Rhetorical questions tended to shoot right over her daughter's head. Rhetorical questions and table manners, she noted as Leaf attempted to drizzle syrup directly into her mouth.
"Anyway. No way I'm letting my baby go without a proper start to the day. Who knows what you'll be eating from now?"
Leaf shrugged, but didn't like the idea once she thought about it. She had gotten so used to her mother's cooking....no way she was going on rations now. She'd have to look out for restaurants, or at least a good grocery store. Leaf had definitely not inherited her mother's cooking skills, but at the least she could get a good pick-me-up that way.
"Ready for seconds?" her mother asked, seeing Leaf devour the last pancake. Leaf hesitated, then nodded. She had no idea when she was going to get another chance like this. Besides, she had long ago gotten used to the feeling of a tightly packed stomach. It didn't really bother her, if anything she was starting to enjoy finding the limits of her belly.
Another five pancakes and a couple glasses of (whole) milk later, Leaf managed to drag herself out of the chair. She was a bit on the lazy side, but she was certain about her decision to become a pokemon trainer. Her mother handed her her bag and hat, and Leaf managed to make it out the door. She then...
