A Leaf in Fall

Leaf was not, by any means, an airhead. She was mostly a sensible girl, but prone to a little bit of daydreaming, what some would call absent-mindedness. Perhaps her body just didn't have the capacity to run both brain and stomach at once, given that she always tended to become the least attentive right after a good meal. Her only thoughts, walking through the quiet town, were of her mother's cooking. She was glad her last breakfast was on a high note, with one of her favorite dishes (truthfully, anything that involved chocolate became an instant favorite) but couldn't help but imagine all the other dishes she could have had as well. She'd have to find a diner soon...once she wasn't so stuffed.
Her head in the clouds, it wasn't much surprise that Leaf stopped watching where she was going. The road she walked wasn't even that busy however, so it was really a stroke of bad luck when Leaf felt herself walk face-first into the back of someone. She stubbed her foot as well, and before she knew what had happened the ground was rushing up into her field of vision.
"Waah~oomph!" she landed hard on her front. She winced. She had nearly puked, her stomach being compressed hard between the ground and her. It was lucky there had been so little weight behind that fall.
"Oh man." she groaned and rubbed a scuff elbow. "Sorry, I'm sorry." she looked around quickly, feeling her hat was gone. She found it, but her eyes widened. It was next to the dazed person she had knocked over, who was none other than...
