stay with the girl

the girl looks on in nonbeleif at the strange man on horseback.
tears come to her eyes as she surveys the ravaged landscape.
how could anyone have done such a thing?
she tries taking a step forward, but stumbles on her bad leg.
crying out in pain, she leans over to find that her right calf was sore and swollen, most likely broken....
and then came footsteps.....
fearing for her life, the girl scampers towards a shady corner and curls up, trembling.
the foot steps got closer...

and then she saw....
