It was another regular dull day within NERV headquarters, no angels have attacked in the last month or so so the Eva pilots Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley were out about enjoying the rareity of free time, by Asuka shopping and using the quiet Shinji as nothing more than a pack mule.
The only one missing that day was Rei Ayanami who was currently in a large hangar with her Eva, undergoing an experiment proposed and supervised by Ritsuko Akagi. The experiment involved a special drug which held the possibilities of increasing the syncronization rate of pilots and was testing whether or not it would work.
The communicator earpiece Rei wore came to life, "You're doing good Rei. So far the drug appears to be a success." The one speaking was Ritsuko.
Appearing indifferent about it Rei replied, "Will Mr.Ikari be proud of this?" She wasn't referring to the young Shinji but in fact his father Gendo.
Again blaring to life the comm transferred Ritsuko's reply, "Of course Rei, he,Shinji,Asuka and everyone else will be very proud of you."
For a moment Rei appeared indifferent again but in a single second her stoic face formed a pleased smile, instantly shifting back into place the next moment.
"I see....." She muttered into the communicator.
"Don't worry about i-" Ritsuko was cut off by a loud beeping noise and the panicked words of one of the scientists there.
"Somethings gone wrong, the syncronization rate is through the roof. It's reached 80 percent and still skyrocketing!"
With a quick gasp Ritsuko yelled into the mic again, "Rei get out of there!!"
Still wearing a solemn expression Rei quickly disconnected from her Eva sucessfully, walking out of it calmly. Seeing Rei Ritsuki ran out of the observance room she was in and grasped Rei tightly on the shoulders, "Are you ok Rei!?!"
Appearing confused slightly the Eva pilot nodded, "Yes, I'm fine. Why did you abort the process? All of the systems were working perfectly."
Realizing Rei didn't realize what happened Ritsuko smiled weakly, "It's nothing you need to worry about, go on you can spend the rest of the day relaxing like Shinji and Asuka."
Carelessly Rei averted her red eyes, "Very well..."
