Chapter #2

Earning Trust

You quickly delve into your mind for that magical link you were so familiar with. Finding it, you ran into the entrance of the cave and screamed the only spell that could hold them at bay for a time. "TERRESTRIS MACERIA!" finally noticing your motives, the captain yells out for all to attack but it was to late, your spell took effect and the earth in front of the cave quickly rose toward the ceiling, temporarily sealing it shut. Grunting from the toll of this spell, It was the most powerful therefor the most draining, you start toward the interior of the cave. Hopefully the dragons wouldn’t char grill you straight away. Creeping forwards you try to not look scared, but also try to look respectful. You didn’t have to walk far before you encountered the first dragon.

From the roof it fell into sight, It's black hide shining in the darkness, wings raised into an aggressive stance, teeth bared and roaring at the top of its voice. Forget trying to stay brave, you had to force yourself not to turn tail and run for the hills. “P-please! I come in peace!” You stutter hoping it’ll hear you out.

'Then why, human, is there an army outside? You sink so low to attack a family that has done nothing to you?!'

Slightly startled at his speech inside your mind, you continue “No! I have sealed the entrance shut. I couldn’t let them just slaughter your family for the hell of it!” The dragon at this point seemed to lower its wings once hearing the reason the soldiers weren’t moving. It then lowered it’s head down so close to your face, its eye took your entire field of vision.

'If you are lying to me human, I will personally see to it that you and every human following you experiences unimaginable pain until you beg for death.' You nod, hands shaking slightly,

“I swear it to be true. I don’t agree with the war, so to help an innocent family would be an honor.” Hoping flattery would calm him, you take a step back and make an elegant bow which is usually reserved for a king.

The dragon stood up to full height, eying you carefully, it seemed to be deciding whether to trust you or not.

Finally it came back down to your level and muttered;
