Taking the Key

You reach for the key, trying hard not to make sudden noises or even breathe. Your fingers inch closer to the key, closer.....
You grab it, and immediately hide it away in your palm. The guard was busy checking one of the other prisoners, and did not even notice you. You hide the key as inconspicuously as possible as they lead you away......
Suddenly one of the prisoners near you whispers in your ear
"Did you grab the key?"
You answer:

1. Yes, I did

2. I don't know what you mean
