A Decade is a long time

A decade ago we were renting a house,
You worked in a factory,
We had Xander.

A decade ago we finally decided,
After nine years and a child together,
To get married.

A decade ago we had a wedding,
a small wedding for family and friends.
We had a jazz band.

And pizza.
And it rained.
There was a fight.
I had a migraine.
Xander tried lemon.
There were cupcakes.
We had pie.
It was a good day.

A decade ago it was official,
Tied the knot, got hitched, it was legal.
Husband/wife, spouse.

A decade is a long time.
I'm glad I spent it with you.
