falling snow enhances

They descend upon the barren Earth,

Gracefully,

         Tranquilly,

                   Ever so silently

As would a swarm of delicate butterflies,

Fluttering,

         In tiny circles,

                   Then falling.

Intricate snowflakes,

         Uniquely shaped,

                   Singular each,

                             Inevitably fall

Destined to gently caress

A tree,

         An eyelash,

Or the embrace of two shadows.

Each must melt and perish in obscurity.

Each must relinquish its individual form

For the creation of a breathtaking world

         In which

Children will find glee

         Artists will paint,

                   Songs will be written,

         And lovers will share

The joy of words unspoken.
