The house of Calleigh Duquesne officially becomes my home. |
Excitement and fear were swirling so fast in my chest, making them indistinguishable one from another. I was on my way to Calleigh's house, driven by Calleigh herself. Fearing the unknown of what was going to happen when we were completely alone, but excitement because it's actually happening. This will be my first one on one time with her and my anxiety about it is making it hard to focus on any single thought. Seeing her house, large and beautiful, come into view as she pulled into the driveway made my legs trimble. When Calleigh parked the car, I said to myself, 'This is it'. After shutting the engine off, she got out and walked around the back to my side. Opening the door, she said, "You ready?" I gave a nod, then went front paws first out of the car. Once my back paws hit the pavement, Calleigh shut my door and I followed with more eagerness than I had before because the excitement of seeing the inside of her house began to take control. The second Calleigh closed the front door after walking in, fear found it's way back up when the same thought came back... I'm officially alone with Calleigh Duquesne, closed off from the outside world and I had no idea what was going to happen. It felt like my chest was going to explode until I heard her say with a smile, "Welcome home." After I looked up to see how genuinely happy she was, my fear slowly subsided and replaced with how safe I really was. Taking a fews steps forward, I surveyed the spacious living room that was conjoined with what looked like some kind of sun room separated by a single step downward. My heart still raced as I took in the site and smells. A small thought did come to mind though, I'm going to like it here. Stepping up beside me, she placed a hand behind my head, breaking me of my mild trance, "Come on. Let me give you a tour." First, Calleigh showed me the kitchen where it was very open with a small island in the middle, then continued through the dining room, passing her bedroom, the spare bedroom, and stopping at the bathroom. I liked the setup it has. To the side there was a tall shower with a single glass door and apart from the basic toilet and double sink, the far side by the window sat a large garden tub that I'm sure I would be able to swim in. Calleigh looked at the toilet for a moment, then said, "We need to figure out a bathroom set up or routine for you. Got any ideas?" Looking up at Calleigh, she turned her eyes to me to see what I would do. I brought my gaze to the toilet and let my mind wander through possible ways I could relieve myself that wouldn't bother Calleigh with it. Then like a light switch, I knew exactly what to do. Walking towards it, I used my left paw to lift the lid and seat together all the way up so that it rested on the tank. Calleigh stepped back in amazement as she watched me turn my tail end over the toilet bowl, me having to spread my legs a bit to make this work. Before we knew it, I was peeing in the water below. She was patiently observing how I did this with amusement while I stepped forward so I could turn around. Using both paws, I stretched my right paws so that the claws could touch the lid and pull it down. With my left paw, I caught it falling that way it didn't slam shut. Lastly I proceeded to flush it without any trouble. With a big smile, Calleigh came up to me and started petting my head, "I'm impressed. Glad you were able to figure it out. This will help you out a lot." She then realized what she was doing and stopped, "I'm sorry. I need to remember you're a person, not a dog." When Calleigh walked back into the living room, my heart skipped a beat upon hearing her refer to me as a dog for the second time today. The idea of calling myself her dog excited me in more ways than one. I had a crush on her and one thing I would love to hear is for Calleigh to say I belonged to her. I quickly started following her out of the bathroom, seeing that she stopped in the middle of the living room. I could tell she was in a deep thought or felt bad for thinking she actually was treating me like a dog and maybe I wasn't comfortable with it. But it was quite the opposite and I wanted to let her know. Looking down, I saw her right hand was relaxed, giving me a chance to do something I never thought I would be able to do to anyone. With great fear of not knowing how she'd react, I walked up to Calleigh, placing my face in the palm of her hand. "Oh," she said in surprise, but in turn surprised me by stroking my head from above my eyes to the back of my ears, occasionally giving me a gentle scratch. I couldn't believe it. Calleigh was willingly petting me like I was a real dog. I tell myself dog because it gives a different feeling than saying wolf. Closing my eyes, I soaked in all I could get. It was an amazing feeling that I didn't want to go away. Not helping myself, I got closer and ended up leaning into her side, taking in her touch and her hypnotizing smell. This must be how a dog feels and how it would be if I was to truly become Calleigh's dog. But the thought was interrupted the moment she spoke, "I'm really glad you enjoy that. It really is a stress reliever to pet a dog after a long days work." Right when Calleigh said that, there was no chance of me stopping myself when I backed away and sat down. When she turned to me confused, I did a few nods and pointed my paw from me to her. "What?" I repeated my gestures, causing her to think for a moment before her expression lit up with realization, "You want to be my dog?" I nodded, then added another gesture by pointing from me then to the phone. She instantly knew what I meant, "Natalia's too." My tailed began wagging as I nodded twice. "Are you sure? Your mind is still human and I'm not sure I could treat you like anything else. You're a wolf yes, but you're also not." I had since stopped wagging my tail and then lowered my ears. Her eyes saddened, "I mean, it won't be easy at first, but I think we could figure it out. I just don't want to treat you like a dog all the time." Lifting my ears back up, I brought my paw forward and made it wiggle from side to side. Calleigh got what I was trying to say, "Okay, so not all the time." Looking around to find something that could help me communicate better, I noticed Calleigh's laptop laying on the computer desk in the sun room. A lightbulb went off in my head. Without giving it a second thought, I walked over to it and sat down, looking back at Calleigh. The expression on her face told me that she thinks she knew what I wanted. It was confirmed when she asked me, "You want to try typing on the laptop?" I nodded. Calleigh didn't waste any time grabbing the laptop and placing it on the floor in front of me. After opening it, she brought up Microsoft Word and backed away, taking a seat next to me. Using my left paw, I maneuvered my toes so that I was able to extend out a single claw, what would've been my pointer, and actually began typing. But since I only used one paw, proper grammar like capitalizing and some punctuation unless the software used the autocorrect feature to do some of that for me. The excitement I had was building as I typed, knowing I now could actually talk to them with words and not just noises and gestures. Calleigh leaned in as I typed, "I love the idea of being petted. I love the gentle touch of your hand. It's soothing after being alone for so long. And the thought of being your dog gives me the sense of belonging. A feeling I've always wanted. Besides, women as beautiful as you both are, I don't want to belong to anyone else." My tail wagged a few times when I typed that last part. Calleigh's smile was soft and full of understanding, "Awe. I can understand that. And you're too sweet. If that's what you want, I would love for you to be my dog. I'm sure Natalia would say the same thing." I did little hops in the air while spinning in a circle with excitement, causing Calleigh to laugh, "Okay, I can see you're really happy about that. But as far as how to treat you though. What are your thoughts?" Pausing for a second, looking forward to think, I sat back down and continued typing, "I would like to still be treated as my human self, but don't hesitate on anything you want to do to me. No need to even ask if you can. Whatever it could be, I know I would like it. Especially pets and scratches. That's all fair game, but only if it comes from you or natalia. I'm uncomfortable with men touching me. Bad experiences." Calleigh's face showed a lot of sorrow, "Oh, I'm so sorry that happened to you." She reached out and stroked my cheek a couple times before asking, "Do you want me to tell Natalia?" I considered it for a minute but then shook my head, typing, "I want to tell her. I don't want anyone else to know. At least not yet." Calleigh put her hand on my shoulder, then pulled me into a sideways hug, "I promise I won't tell anybody." She held on for several seconds before letting go and asking, "If you don't mind me asking, what is your name?" Letting out a long sigh, I answered her, "My name is melissa. But that was my human name. As a wolf, I want to go by something else." "What would you like to be called?" "I want to use my internet name I always used, which ironically fits. I went by fire wolf on all websites I created accounts on. I would really like that or even just wolf. I'd be happy with that too." Smiling, Calleigh closed the laptop and stood up to place it back on the computer desk, "I love the name, Fire Wolf, and sometimes Wolf for short. How about we get ready for bed?" Standing up beside her, I wagged my tall to indicate that I was ready. While following Calleigh toward her bedroom, my heart began to beat faster. Was I sleeping in here with her or was I taking the spare room as my own? These questions I repeated in my head while she got her pajamas and went into her walk-in closet to change. I had say down in the middle of her room, unsure of what to do. Coming back out in her sleep shirt and pajamas pants, Calleigh came to me to help me get my vest off, which I had completely forgot I was wearing. Laying it in the small arm chair that was in the corner of the room, she went over to her bed to pull the covers back and get in. After settling and leaning against the backboard, Calleigh looked at me still not moving. With a sense of amusement because she knew I was confused on where I was supposed to be, she patted the spot next to her, "You're not sleeping on the floor, so come on up here." I gulped as my heart raced. With wobbly legs, I slowly walked to the opposite side of the bed. Hesitating, I finally was able to get my front paws onto the bed and push off with my back legs. Calleigh's bed was so soft compared to the ground I was used to sleeping on. "There you go," she said as I sat down facing her. "You have no reason to be afraid. I'm not going to bite." With a big grin, I somehow managed a laugh, and it sounded like a laugh...sort of. Staring at each other for a minute, I gulped again before trying one more time to talk to her without the laptop. I lifted my paw to point to my mouth, to her, to me, and back to her. I could see her brain trying to figure it out, but being around me enough and me doing geetures so much, I do believe she's figuring me out faster on what I'm trying to say. Calleigh made a guess that amazed me to be right the first time, "You want to hear me call you mine?" My ears went halfway down when I nodded. "Is that to make it official?" I gulped, slowly nodding. I think she saw me shaking a little, because everything about her body posture, expression, and even the love I suddenly could smell coming from her changed. It went from listening friend to almost motherly. Stretching her left arm out, she gave a gentle command, "Come here." I nearly stumbled as I stepped closer to her. When I reached her, Calleigh's arm wrapped around me, placing her chin on top of my head that now rested just above her chest. With her right hand, she stroked the side of my face causing me to close my eyes, "My sweet Fire Wolf, you are my amazing dog and I won't let anyone ever hurt you or take you away from me. As long as you belong to me, you will always be safe." My heart skipped way too many beats for me to still be alive because I'm pretty sure I just flatlined right then. The most impossible thing I could think of to happen, just happened. My body felt like it was melting as my front legs started to give out. Calleigh just allowed it as she herself was relaxing further into the bed. After my body was fully down, I partially opened my eyes and couldn't believe what I was seeing. My head was resting on Calleigh's stomach while her arm lay around my neck. She was texting with her other hand and just let me stay here. I didn't bother ruining this moment, so I closed my eyes and let my mind drift off. Sleep didn't take long to find me. My life just became the best it has ever been. I was my favorite animal, sleeping in the arms of my crush, and I belonged to her. I wouldn't change this even if I was given the choice. My life is now perfect. |
