Beside an abandoned shabby-looking house sat a dog quietly, with hope in its eyes, looking at the door awaiting for it to open. Every now and then it used to have some visitors, some who will pet and grieve, some just there to feed, and some were cruel enough coming for lashing out their anger. But that poor dog never tried to get away, as for him the chain was tight enough that he won't be able to break. When other strays will play, he will only gaze at them wishing to experience such glee, but he would never go to join, as for him the chain was too hard to break.
One rainy day a woman, who was passing by, stopped to take her cover. While standing there awaiting for the pouring to stop, she saw our pity dog, who was still sitting near the door. She caressed the dog's head and gave it something to eat. Then she looked at the sky as the pouring was now stopped, asking the dog to follow her, even tried to give it some food. She wondered why the dog didn't move, even though there were no chains.
